How long until Hoke throws in the towel and goes into full protect Denard mode like vs. Bama? Methinks Denard will not like getting hit by the d boys. Not one bit.

I think Tuitt could actually fit him in his back pocket

Little brothers wide receiving corps is also no where near as talented as our corp. It is not even close, not by hands, speed, height, nothing.

We failed to pass protect against bama due to the fact their secondary was so good, we suffered coverage sacks in that game, not true pressure sacks (as evidenced by their rushing tendencies).

And we didnt allow any sacks against air force, the pass protection was good that day, as expected against undersized d-linemen.

This is pure blue bull. And of the three teams, Purdue's is the best.

Bama's everything is so good. You are lucky: A) the score was as close as it was; B) Denard or someone else was not hauled off the field dead or seriously injured.

That is really significant. (You need to learn how to use playing a service acadamy.) It is about what you do to their offense, not their defense.

Seriously. Nothing you have done this year can prepare you for what you will face this Saturday except the Bama game. I am not making an ND to Bama comparison, but you do not want to get behind early . . .

And, under rating ND's secondary does no good for you.

I dont know that I agree with it, but I have seen the point made on multiple forums as well as being discussed on Michigan Football radio earlier today.

What is that, the PA system at Wal Mart?

Not only do I want to beat them, we could knock them out of the top 25.

Random: Listening to Gus Johnson call the USC-Stanford game (before ND starts), makes me want him for NBC to call the ND games badly.

Young, energetic, enthusiastic, knowledgeable. Just feels fun and fresh.

Oh dear god I hope this DOESNT happen. Gus Johnson for whatever reason seriously annoys me. Im not a fan of Hammond, I do like Mayock but please not Gus Johnson

Has ND ever tried the whole "white out" or whatever color they choose for a game? IMO I think this game would be perfect to try it.

thanks for link.....some real respect not what i thought i was about to read
Very true, I don't know if I would advise Kelly to do that though with an inexperienced QB.

Honestly from our view we are most worried about Golson playing poorly, and subsequently Rees getting subbed in later on. Heard that concern from multiple Michigan fans today.
you should fear Golson....
I've seen halftime and post-game speeches by Kelly mentioned in several places. Is there a video or something I am unaware of? (I stay away from the message boards on gameday, I like to focus my full attention on the TV. Plus my gameday rage, win or lose, would be too much for the internet to handle)

EDIT: and to be clear, I've heard only GOOD things.

I honestly have a lot of confidence in russell. I think he has out played Jackson so far. He has the great closing speed so when his technique isn't good he makes up for it with his speed. I expect to see a lot of nickel this week and I absolutely love the play of shumate, he is going to be very special

imo Russell has played great and so has shumate...both have played better than B Jax although b is going against their 1wr so i guess not a great comparison...man slaughter would have been licking his chops this game....spying and on pressure situations denard tossing it up for grabs

I believe that this game is going to be closer than some users on here are predicting. It will not be a blowout; no chance in hell. I'm going to say that the final will be 27-20. However... I'm praying for a thrashing so bad that Hoke decides to quit coaching and become a door greeter at Walmart.

Im not sure if that last sentence is something to brag about

Michigan has played one good team and got embarrassed, one lower-end non-BCS FBS team and almost lost, and one quasi-FCS team and won comfortably. Are we better than Air Force? I sure hope so.

If we don't have a multitude of crazy mistakes/turnovers and the Big Ten refs don't screw us it is extremely hard to imagine Michigan holding us under ~21 points. We got 20 against Purdue and MSU... two teams with quite a few NFL caliber players... and Michigan's is simply worse man for man than either of those two teams. Their DL is nowhere near MSU/Purdue... their LBs are nowhere near MSU.... their CBs are nowhere near Purdue... only at safety are they even comparable to the other teams we've played. So it's very hard to conceive of scenarios where we don't employ a very balanced attack with a lot of success without horrible luck, mental errors, or bad calls.

So the real question becomes.... can we stifle Michigan? Can our young secondary hold up against the multitude of "broken" plays Michigan will run? Can we limit big plays? I'm not sure. Michigan has 3 WRs that are worlds better in terms of physical talent than any team we've faced so far. Gardner is inexperienced but a big, talented athlete. Gallon is fast. Roundtree is quick and experienced. So what happens when Denard buys 4-5 seconds with his legs and throws a floater downfield? I'm not sure.

If I had to predict right now I'd say ND 31 Michigan 28.

Not nearly as afraid of UM and USC now has I was 3 weeks ago. More afraid of Stanford then anybody else this season even more the Oklahoma because they have a tendency to choke when they play us. All time were 8-1 against The Sooners.

Don't let Denard beat you with his feet. Make him beat you via the air attack. Containment, angle pursuit, and form tackling are key.

Russell has done a tremendous job at CB for the 4-6 weeks he has been one. Shumate has been a pleasant surprise and the leadership of Motta has been a welcome sight.

So you want him to get promoted to a full time employee as opposed to currently working part time @ Wal-Mart? I guess that would give him a lot more time hanging out w/ the typical scUM fan base.

I think we have enough horse power to overcome the horseshoe or two Michigan is likely to pull out of its a$$ against us. I expect special teams or defense to put 6 on the board for us and our offense should do better than the 20 of the last two games.

ND 31, Mich 24

They should have Davonte Neal play as the scout team QB and run tackling drills all day for the defense. We can't miss a single tackle or Denard will be gone. Motta is awesome against run plays but if he takes his usual bad angles Denard will burn him and the rest of the secondary badly.

I dont know if this has been mentioned today, but Mike Snyder of Detroit Free Press writes that scUM allowed 111 rushing yards against UMass (they're IA now, apparently), which had only gained in the 80s for the first two games.

Denard can't make big plays if we keep him on the sidelines...

Turning Point and IrishFBFanatic have been making these every week to put as the cover photo on facebook. Here's the one for this week.

UMASS is 0-3.

In those 3 losses, they only had 3 rushing yards against UCONN,

78 rushing yards against Indiana,

and 112 against Michigan.

I did not watch their game, so maybe Michigan gave up a lot of rushing yards late in the game, but we're going to run all over this team, imo. Run, run, Golson play-action, roll-out. Oh it's going to be sweet.

Irish have handed this game to wolves the last 3 years. This is all about OlL and DL, and taking care of the ball. A win Saturday goes a long way in making this season special.

ND 31 Michigan 14

If Manti Teo stays on D Rob the way he did Leveon Bell, and Prince Shembo eats up the rest of the O Line then this game is a lock. Even Kirk "the hater" Herbstreit said that Michigan better eat their Wheaties if they want a chance against ND's front 7. I am not afraid of Michigan this year. 4-0 here we come!!!

Nope. That's why they make them and why I shared it. Use away.

Been using it every week and each week I'm impressed with what they come up with.

Redemption is definitely the word and the driving force for this game. No way in hell does ND overlook Mich. This team will be ready and play desciplined because of the intense preperation leading up to Saturday. Kelly is going to leave no doubt and will carry that mentality until the clock hits all zeros in the 4th qtr. Records, rankings, previous three games for both teams are all out the window. Redemption starts today.
