My 1,000th IE Post, I wanted it to be something positive, something kind of special, and couldn't think of a better place to put it.
Manti Te'o is the living embodiment of why I love sports. I remember exactly where I was when I heard that Manti had committed to ND.
My Father, who is the reason I love the Irish, called me while I was on the escalator up to the second floor of the local Dick's Sporting Goods and relayed the great news.
This young man suffers two life-changing tragedies, and instead of taking the time off, which not a good soul would have faulted him for, he chooses to play. Play and honor the memory of his loved ones, play and support and be supported by his extended family, his team, coaches, staff and fans.
Watching Manti's post game interview, watching the footage of him on the sideline, watching his brothers support him, that is why I love sports.
Sports are a microcosm of life, highs and lows, successes and failures, but throughout, life goes on, there is the next game, next week, next season.
Maybe it's just me, but watching someone overcome some adversity or hardship puts things in perspective.

I wrote in another post how it seemed to me that every bounce, went ND's way last night,
just look at Manti's INT Some will scoff at this comment, outside looking in, I might be one of them, but it just seemed like someone who deserved it was getting a little help last night.
Before this gets any longer than it already is, I'll end my 1,000th post with this:
Manti Te'o, you make me proud to be a lifelong Notre Dame fan, Go Irish.
