I have been thinking... How would you like to see Troy as a running back in goal line situations? After seeing him flip the tackling dummy, sure seems like he may be able to break at least one tackle. I realize a tackling dummy isn't a human being.

I still have dreams of him and Ishaq starting at the two OLB spots and just pillaging the line of scrimmage. Too much talent to be 3rd down TE/special package TE, imo.

He's got 2 more years after this season. Eifert is leaving, and Koyack is better suited to be split out. Niklas will have 3 years as an inline blocker, and he will have plenty of opportunities to create mismatches and catch the ball in the future.

exactly, Niklas and Koyack are the future at TE. Eifert gets all the attention right now and deserving he is.

Anyone else enjoying the thought of Niklas vs. Navy's 250lb DE and/or 220lb OLB? Can you say mismatch?

Yeah, I don't like playing Navy. We always tend to have 1-2 guys with knee injuries afterwards....

I wonder how much of that is traditionally playing them mid-season, and lack of prep time?

After watching the game for the third time ....I was laughing watching Troy fly around in the first couple of drives. He looked like he was in a mosh pit flying around trying to pummel anyone wearing an opposing jersey. Awesome!

I agree! I think Kelly saves some packages just for him. He did not do much but just bull doze his side of the line. Impressive young man for sure. Keep it up Troy.

Like the injury report from this week. That is a real plus for the team this year; Navy, no injuries.

I thought he looked good overall but still needs to learn the blocking assignments a lil better. This kid is gonna be a stud! Next ND TE to the NFL after Eifert.

I concur.

Certainly the strongest we've had in recent memory...

ya, he missed some assigned blocks, but that is easily fixable and kind of expected in the 1st game. If Niklas got beat on a block, that would be different, but he just didnt get the assignment right (I remember Davonte Neal's play getting blown up because of Niklas).

When everyone calls him strong, are they going by his nickname, his weightroom stats, or the eye-test? Just curious. Don't know much about him.

All of the above, and his penchant for repeatedly capsizing sleds in practice.
