The situations are totally different and required different punishments. Alcohol, Running from the cops, and violating team rules are completely different than each other. Spring, Early summer, and August are 3 totally different times.

Heres a couple things....

1. I commend Kelly for having the discipline to show that its his team and no matter who you are you aren't higher than the team or university.

2. How many teams in years past would you feel confident about winning a game when the starting qb, running back, middle linebacker are suspended and you lost a starting cb in camp? Sure, Navy can't be taken lightly, but you can say that if ND loses to Navy or Purdue there are more pressing concerns than Cierre.

3. That is a FACT that the coach is building a program. Its cliche' but Next man in and lets roll. Theres depth on this team, and where there isnt depth, theres a whole lot of talent. For those that disagree with me....tell me you arent excited to see GA3 run the ball at length. Tell me you aren't intrigued by having 2 of the most athletic corners in the last 10 years starting. Tell me you aren't excited to see Davonte get the ball in his hands, or Chris Brown run the Go. The fact is those guys aren't even the starters. So when and if they see the field its bc they have EARNED that playing time.

4. Its game week.

I would just like to continue on with Turning Point's points.

Not only are all those things true, and all of those players gone. But the team is together and ready to roll. Next guy in.

I don't understand what anybody had to say about Kelly not being fair based upon his status with the team. Kelly suspended Cierre for two games.

The only senario that meets the criteron, is that some or all of the players were surprised with a school or coaches random drug test. In that situation, they would had been allowed to refuse the test for a two game suspension. No drugs officially, breaking the team rule, refusing the test, no posession or criminal charges.

All you with your code reds and pinks, I heard about you army types and your nightime beach blanket parties, that's why I joined the USMC, to get uninterupted sleep when any sleep was available! PS. I had one recruit that was a friend of mine in basic, I used to watch that got some wire from the kitchen and wove it into the metal springs of his rack. You couldn't even tell it was there. Once, without giving it away I asked him what it was for. He said he heard that a lot of guys got the shiit kicked out of them at night, and if anyone tried with him, the first guy was going down. When we had KP duty later, he showed me how effective of a garrote he had made. Nice unassuming guy. I always picked him second or third for pickup football games later on, when we bumped into each other in FMS.

I really don't understand the big deal here. Not about the cannabis, but Wood's absence and the 2012 outlook. This will not change a thing.

Navy threw for 33 yards last year. Thirty-three. The Irish front seven is better in 2012 than in 2011, and Navy isn't.

Look at the size for Navy's front seven:

DE: 255
NG: 297
DE: 247
OLB: 212
MLB: 216
MLB: 229
OLB: 218

If Notre Dame can't run on these guys, we have more serious issues.

Notre Dame rushed for 287 yards against Purdue in 2011. While Purdue looks to be pretty improved, and I even think this is a major trap game, I don't see how losing Wood will mean that the Irish run for less than 150--minimum.

Pretty sure they got caught by an RA or something. This is not a "Code Red."

Relax everyone. This stuff happens.

Who smokes in their dorm at ND? Every pothead I knew moved off-campus as soon as possible.

I had some friends that did it in the dorms for two years a few times a week. It always blew my mind that they never got caught because I would walk by and immediately know what was going on but apparently the R.A.s didn't

Why smoke in your dorm when you have that huge isolated campus to choose from? It's disappointing that he got caught and so many D1 players and probably a lot of other ND players get away with it.

Its crazy how pot smokers never really worry about being caught. Most of the time it seems to work out for them, too.

If you are going to smoke in close corners get a few dryer sheets, stuff them in a empty toilet paper roll and boom. Scented smoke!!!

I just went back & looked at the v-buck challenge & only 8 folks thought someone other than Cierre would carry the ball first. 9 if you count Irishsteelhead's "marijuana high", rambling answers. Thanks Cierre, there goes my perfect score. Why couldn't this have happened before the thread was closed!

I think no matter who you are, when you do something stupid, you deserve to get ripped. He's a big boy. He needs to suck it up and take his ripping like a man. He hurt himself, his family, his school, his team and us fans. He knew what the risks were and made a poor decision. He'll live.

Exactly. If all these guys heard was how great they are and that they can do no wrong, we'd have a team of a buncha ego inflated selfish punks. A little ripping now and then never hurts. It keeps these D1 guys grounded.

Yeah, you're a helluva athlete, but you still aren't above a good a$$ chewing. Even from the fans when you screw up.

Famous last words.........

I don't like to assume anything about any opponent. Especially given the last few years.

That's why I do view missing our 1st string RB as a big deal. I dont' care the opponent.

One missed blitz pickup, one fumble(by one of the young guys)......could change the game.

Sounds like you've done that before. Always remember the towel and run the shower

This all works except for when the air pressure outside is higher than in the dorms and all that dank goodness floating in the air starts slipping into the halls and vents. Oh well, live and learn. Its just pot after all, and a 2-game suspension is perfectly acceptable.

Edit: Also find it funny that every time this thread pops up I notice that the kid from Cali committed to ND the day before 4/20 and always wondered if he toked. Question solved.

If I had been the RA, I would have just assumed it was incense and kept walking...Unless Cierre had the Raggae too loud or something.

Can you start a separate thread to discuss the pros and cons and ins and outs of smoking rope when comments are no longer germane to a given player or recruit? Perhaps it could be placed in the Leprechaun Lounge.

If you do, I might have a story or two to share.

In the meanwhile ...

It's more a request to move the conversation to a more appropriate location. I'd be the last to scold or even advise against the occasional "drive-by" diversion, particularly when done with touches of wit and wisdom. Think of it as Situational Ethics if you will.

Cierre's thread has taken a very sharp turn and is skidding toward a cliff. Slow down, take the next exit and settle in at the nearest Road House Bar and Grill. I'll buy the first round.

Oh look, The Lep Lounge is just up ahead. I hear it's a nice place. Guinness, Harp, Kaliber and Smithwick's on tap. Generous pours on Jameson and Bushmills, too.

Oh I understand your noble goals, good sir. I just found it humorous that YOU were the one to direct this since your posts frequently get deleted by Big Brother. Tee hee.
