Not all the alums feel that way. I work with a very wealthy grad who was a manager during the Joe Montana years. All he said was "wow, I have got to process this, it is a big change." This is a man who has no reservations on telling his opinion. If he did not like them he would have said so. The reality is it takes some getting used to, we ALL love the way the uniform looks and what it represents. That does not mean we can't let the kids have fun for ONE DAMN GAME!

Eh, they're not that bad. LOVE the jersey, but it would've been nice if that were the only change. Like the blue stripe on the pants, but it's a little too wide for me. The helmet is cool, I guess, but a bit too non-traditional for me. I'm not a traditionalist--only 18 years old--but I could do without half of the helmet being blue.

I have mixed feelings about the unis. The gold helmet should never be messed with. The helmet just doesn't look attractive because it's not symmetrical. The whole uni looks ugly. What were they thinking?!

I highly doubt the Alumni who donate significantly to Notre Dame factor one uniform for one game into their decision on whether and how much to donate.

The people I know who donate a lot don't even factor football into the decision

Reasonable reaction from these guys, as usual: assassinate Swarbrick, Kelly and Jenkins. Obviously. What else could you do?

All in all, other than the helmet, I don't think they're terrible. The best alternate uniforms I've seen are still the throwbacks they wore at Michigan last year, but I don't think those fit the ethos of what they are trying to do here, which is obviously to come with some crazy sh!t because they believe it is what the kids want. Maybe it is, and if so, so be it. But why do they need to do what they did to the helmet? That is the part I don't understand.

I don't like the helmet, could have gone without that. And as said, put the leprechaun on the right side if needs to face the defense.

I really hate the socks on the embedded pictures. Can anyone confirm, are the stripes really part of the uni? Was Manti wearing those live today?

Hey, the kids seem to really like them, and that is all that is important.

I actually think that what they do to swirl the gold, looks better for this helmet because it is less dominant.

I don't really care what the uniforms look like for the one game (sans TT) but the marketing advantages of the Subway series game is just what the school needs!

It is nice to see the slowest and lowest among us have mastered the threat of the negative rep.

On UND for the prerevalation, both Manti and Tyler had a fairly plain navy striped athletic sock. Must have been the real deal all the way around because Manti said, "Wow, wonder if I will get to wear my visor", and the next thing you know his helmet was equiped by Ryan Grooms with a visor. So the socks in RhodeIrish's picture don't hold true.

The lack of symmetry in the helmet really bothers me. It is only for 1 game and if the players like it then oh we'll I guess.

SIDE NOTE- I will try and video my dad's reaction to these Unis when I show him. He is going to literally Sh!t his pants in a furious rage. That will be a classic!

Hey Bog, I am the 50 year old fat *** but I have played a down or two. Just not D-1 college. For the record, the uni is ok by me. I still prefer the gold helmet and traditional colors. But hey, it seems to be popular with the kids now.
