ND does NOT have a completely "anti-Chinese" stance. My brother was a part of a group of ND MBA students who travelled to China, just a few years ago.

China has, what, just over a billion people? It's not that they will start watching ND games on television. It's more opening up that market for ND apparel, collectibles, etc. And being one of the first, and only, teams to play there will definitely breed "fans".

Why all the negativity? What's the harm?

I don't support our team playing in a country where morality has taken a hike:

Chinese Girl, 2, Run Over By Van, Ignored By At Least 18 Passers-By | Fox News

As Chinese hit-and-run girl dies, passersby claim they did not see her - Telegraph

I don't suggest going out and looking for the security camera that caught the whole thing...there are some things you cannot unsee and it's got to be the worst thing I've ever seen on the internet.

This, along with a number of other morality issues such as their ways of skinning raccoon dogs alive for fur...I don't buy or endorse anything from China now unless there are no other alternatives.

I was sitting next to a couple kids from China at the table next to me in the library and one of them found the link to this report and was freaking out it was hilarious. They started screaming and the only english word they said was FOOTBALL it was quite the scene, wish I had a camera

I love this idea. What a cool experience for the team. I think it would also be a good recruiting tool. Potential recruits can see the Irish going to Dublin and now possibly China......they can only begin to wonder where the Irish will go during their years in school.

I'm not a fan of China. I think their human rights record sucks, they manipulate currency to **** us over, they have ZERO quality control over any product leaving that hell hole, endangering our children continually...they are simply a quieter enemy than Iran.

I have no interest in them, other than to see them fall precipitously.

The thought that that country would benefit in the least from the presence of ND is not attractive to me...

and the fact that ND might benefit monetarily, well, there is no "clean" money coming from China...every cent would be from someone who did a child or this nation wrong.

Other than those annoyances...sure lets go...:(

Notre Dame does not have a problem getting kids from Asia. I'm not sure this is a logical place to establish a fan base considering THERE IS NO FOOTBALL TO SPEAK OF IN ASIA.

very adamant caps lock there, considering Japan is part of Asia & has a very well established football league ( & collegiate level)

Swarbrick says that playing in China remains a priority in reference to the Stanford game in 2013 going overseas.

#NotreDame AD Jack Swarbrick says still approaching Stanford about possible China game but talks stalled since AD Bob Bowlsby went to Big 12

Can someone summarize what the logic behind playing in China is?

Actually talks were suspended while Adidas whips up some black pajama and Mao Jacket unis (his favorite was Navy blue although he also liked green).

I'm surprised, as nothing in our bookstore is made in china, due to the administration's protest against human rights violations that occur in China.

playing in China totally ruins my plans of seeing ND on the west coast every year....1 year at USC, the next year at Stanford. rinse and repeat.

Have them play purdue in China, or Mich. St...better yet, BC vs. ND is china....please dont take away 1/2 of my west coast ND games even if for only one year...

Don't think this is about attracting students from China, but more about building ND's brand name globally. Makes having a degree from ND more valuable. As someone that works in Asia, this can only help. And from a recruiting point of view, how great would it be to go to a team that plays internationally. What a differentation. "Our players went to Ireland and China the last two years" is a pretty good line with parents.

I f'n love this idea. Hope it happens. I would rather the game be played in Paris or Rome or somewhere in Europe but I love the idea of spreading ND's brand worldwide. Has to be a huge recruiting tool as well.

The Chinese who can afford go to school in the states have deep pockets.

That's the problem I have with ND playing in China. The school will claim it's to "expand their global exposure" and to "add diversity to Notre Dame's bright student population".

I really want to discuss this further, but I have such strong opinions about all this nonsense that it won't come across as "Christian".

It's all BS to the nth degree.
