IMO after watching GAIII today we should redshirt him. Why waste a year of eligibility when you already have 3 very good RBs.

Atkinson put it on the ground twice today. Plus when are 3 running backs ever healthy. You guys are putting way to much stock in a damn spring game.

Because 1) you shouldn't get too hyped up over a spring game and 2) Amir is a STUD- why waste a year of eligibility when (if he's 1/2 as good as we all think) he will most likely not be coming back for a 5th year anyway?

We will have 4 elite backs. With this kind of competition and rotation we will dominate the 4th qtr this year.

Notre Dame will not have four elite backs. Please, stop thinking that. Cierre Wood is the only one of them to be near elite status.

Regardless, this backfield is as deep as any backfield in the country. Notre Dame has four guys of "starter" quality.

They do not have four elite guys though. Not even two. Auburn 2004, USC 2005, and Arkansas 2007 is what having two elite guys looks like.

Does anyone know how Amir's rehab is going?

We probably won't know until the next media session. I don't think that will occur for quite a while.

Maybe Amir will give a twitter update for those that follow him

I am pretty excited to see what Amir can do in this offense, I think he's a perfect fit.

BK on SportsBeat960:

• Amir Carlisle is about 80 percent going into camp from his ankle surgery but has made "great progress" the past three weeks.

Unless we get bit by the injury bug in camp...I don't see a reason to even try to force this issue. If Amir can work on straight line conditioning and understanding the playbook...awesome. But I wouldn't let him push to be live until maybe Michigan...

He will be on the field when he's healthy...no question, but do we need him to carry a load? We have, for once, the luxury at RB/Slot to let him get to a real 100%...we should make him do that.

I wouldn't mind if he redshirted actually

I'd actually prefer if he did...

1)Gives him time to recover(I'd like to see him at 150%, shape he was plus Longo)

2)Time to learn playbook(Learning the Hybrid position takes time i'd imagine)

3)Gives us more depth for a longer period of time (eligibility)

Just hoping he stays healthy from here on out. I really don't like comparisons but i'd like him to be a more productive version of Riddick.

Thank you, friend

Don't get me wrong if we weren't in the position that we are in with #1 Wood, #2 Riddick, #3 Atkinson i'd be yelling for him to get on the field....

Not to mention we have Russell and Mahone as freshman....

The only thing I wonder is, would we RS him even though he fought for and was granted a waiver to not have to sit out a year (due to transfer)

I've been pondering that question myself? It would be tough to take away something that a recruit worked hard to get, but unlike "some younger" peoples (old man point of view here) you have to take a step back and look at the big picture. What is best for him as a student/athlete not an athlete/student and what is best for the team. With the way the game has evolved in a couple years he could have one huge season and go pro and still leave early for the NFL.
