So who is wrong here? Doubt a newspaper would run an article without fact checking. Unless it's the Chicago Tribune.

It is the shore news today. Not exactly a bastion for investigative reporting. I'd trust ISD, a national site, over a regional paper.

Does the shore news have quotes from his coach? It would be very weird if he was quoted twice giving such different information to two different sources.

After actually reading the ISD article.... yeah, unless the coach is a total liar I put more stock in the ISD account. Quotes were quite specific to the injury.

I am just trying to understand, so we are not sure if it is broken, fractured or sprained. And we don't know which ankle it is for sure as original reports had it all as his other, and today's stated that it was the same bone. Any respective journalist would have put in "except on the other leg if that were the case".

i don't wanna be negative nancy, but my younger brother sustained an injury that sounds similar to this about two years ago and he is still feeling effects from the injury...this rehab is pretty extensive and if it's the same injury he won't be on the field in mid to late september.

hoping this is not as serious.

Man, this kid has the bones of a 95 year old woman!

On that note... get better Kinlaw. I need to see you get some CB reps.

So we went from broken foot to surgery on his leg?

I think it was originally called an ankle injury. Apparently it's an injured fibula (a bone that goes from the knee to the ankle), which ends distally as the lateral malleolus (which is that bump on the lateral side of the ankle). So it's technically a leg bone that he broke, but in Rashad's case, it's fractured at its tip (which lies at the ankle).

Luckily it isn't as weight bearing as the fibula, obviously, so it's not as difficult to heal, or as devastating as a broken fibula is. Unless i have the two mixed. Anatomy was a while ago

Nice. You have to watch out with those ankle or wrist injuries. I broke my radius near the hand, and I called it a broken wrist, until people explained to me that there is no such thing anatomically as a wrist. I either broke my hand or my arm. The radius is one of the bones in the forearm (along with the ulna) so I properly broke my arm, not my "wrist". Kind of confusing. Kinlaw's injury sounds like something similar.

Anyway, reps for the anatomy knowledge, DH.

irishfanjho15 hates milk, everybody.

LOL, I really do. I like chocolate milk, but regular ol' milk. Yuck. Haven't drank a glass since I was like 4 or 5. It smells rotten to me.

Anyways, speedy recovery young Kinlaw. WE NEED YOU HEALTHY.

Everyone immediately must begin praying to St. Stanislaus Kostka, the patron saint of broken bones --- yep there's almost nothing that we don't have a patron saint for [St. Barbara is the patron saint of cannoneers --- even the Vatican has forgotten why]. Anyway Stanislaus had a lot of them[broken bones not cannons], and was healed by the Blessed Virgin. She demanded that he then become a Jesuit... we might ask Stanislaus to drop that requirement as it applies to Rashad. At least until after his NFL career is over.

There is a rumor, unsubstantiated, that Kelly is lighting a candle to St. Stanislaus in Sacred Heart Cathedral at the present moment.

Somewhat more seriously: get well young man. Some of those types of bone cracks are slow healers.

Even though the fibula only bears 10-15% of the bodies weight, it must move freely and as expected for an ankle to function properly. When the ankle dorsiflexes (bends up), the fibula must move proximally and rotate. It is not uncommon for a fractured fibula to alter these arthrokinematics. All I can say is that I hope he has a good physical therapist! If you need one Rashad, you know where to get ahold of me!
