Welcome aboard. Great decision, can't wait (although will have to) to get you into the University and on the field. Congratulations on a great decision.

JB, a chara,

Mr. R-I-P, good luck in your Irish career. You seem to have the sense to work it for you. You also seem to have the brolic to put the game away! Nár lagaí Dia do lámh! Do tiomantas!

Beir bua agus beannacht,

According to the story on II, he called the staff and told him he wanted to go to ND before we even offered. Staff advised him to visit with his mother first.

He visited, received an offer, and committed.

That is great to hear. Should be very common in a few years. Kelly and staff are doing a phenomenal job.

Glad to have Justin on board. Weird to think someone in my grade already knows where they are going to college.

The 6-foot-1, 187-pound receiver from Indiana made his decision while visiting Ohio State on a recruiting trip...LMAO

Indiana 2A isn't a great level of competition, especially up north here, but I fully trust the coaches evaluating talent. Even better that he decided it while at O$U.

Yup, the article says he shrunk, just as soon as he committed. Also, will never have a decent rating, nor an actionable offer by the only school that counts . . .

What would make a recruit decide on ND while visiting another school? Seeing that it doesn't compare to ND? Or do you guys think that the staff mentioned some things to him to be aware of about other places, and when he saw that NDs staff was correct, he decided to pull the trigger? Either way, it's awesome that he pulled the trigger while visiting Urban's place.

If it was OSU, then something is going on. Alex Anzalone brought up the OSU brouhaha, just before his committment.

Corey Robinson did during/immediately after his Wake Forest visit. One of the verballed lineman did almost the same thing too I think. They just realize that no other school can offer what ND does in their eyes (said that way to nice spark a debate) and know that the Dome is the place for them.

You gotta be kidding, right?

No, I'm perfectly serious. He is 15-16 years old, just like my little brother. In his lifetime, ND has never been very good. This isn't the 80s anymore where every kid who played football dreamed of having an offer from ND. Most kids nowadays grow up wanting to go to Oregon, USC, Florida, LSU, Bama, etc. Obviously, I love that he wanted to come to ND before he visited or had a scholarship offer, but I am pretty surprised.

I believe it was Elmer that was at Michigan and couldn't stand the feeling of the loss by the Irish and knew where his home would be.

I remember Elmer doing that, just curious if anyone thought that BK and staff might have Urban's number in terms of knowing the bullcrap he's spewing and telling the kids to be aware of things.

But now that's getting into the whole "negative recruting" deal, and not nearly enough info to speculate.

That could very well be true. One of our current commits (probably Heuerman) told DomerFan that OSU "has a great speech but they'll say it to anyone that they want. I guess they don't think about us meeting and comparing notes."

But now that's getting into the whole "negative recruting" deal, and not nearly enough info to speculate.

I don't think it's "negative recruiting" to warn a prospect about coaches who tell them exactly what they want to hear, or to encourage them to talk to other recruits about what they're hearing.

I'm generally not in favor of negative recruiting, but at some point ND has to show its targets, in objective terms, just how superior its degree value is. Otherwise opposing coaches bullsh!t the kid into thinking that a degree from State University-- with a ~50% Football GSR-- is just as good as one from ND.

I think the current coaching staff (Kelly), and the administration, (Swarbrick and Jenkins) have done a masterful job of showing ND the way it really is, in an appealing package for 16 year olds. I don't think you have ever seen this. In the old days, as you mentioned, there were people beating down the doors to get in.

Wise enough to sell the product as it stands. The it isn't the easy road; there are things to deal with here other than girlfriends, dollars, and Nfl contracts. You have to work hard to become a better person.

It is kind of like the first wave of post Viet Nam era Marine Recruit marketing campaigns; we used to laugh hysterically, they made PT, sand fleas in your crotch, being shot at, abused at all hours of the day or night appealing. Why? Because it made you a better man. And they were right, true, above board and snapped in. You could trust the Corps. You could trust their program.

They used to tell recruits that if they wanted it easy, join the Airforce. Six week basic training, so on and so forth, the Airforce was fine, but if you really had it, why the USMC was for you. Negative recruiting? No. Affecting perception, identifying needs and desires, yes. A few guys wanted the Ariforce. It was all good. Most were really resolute from that point on.

In the fifth paragraph, what is that about the "2012 season?" Does the esteemed gentlemen from the National Broadcasting Company know something that we don't? Or did he mean "recruiting class of 2012?" Inquiring minds want to know.
