They have a long term plan, but they have no hope of getting those revenue streams up in such a short amount of time. Yes they are getting bigger, and the key may be the Middle East, but when you're looking at the richest clubs in world football, which is what Man City is spending like, they don't hold a candle to the top.
A trip to Asia is great, Liverpool and I think Spurs went last year. Liverpool is growing in America as well, and so are the rest of the established clubs, so in that regard, Man City is par for the course. Asia is huge, and there are already countries which have made up their minds, but China is the golden goose here. Soccer is not just coming to Asia, Liverpool has millions of supporters there already, as well as Arsenal, ManU, Serie A, and La Liga. Man City is starting 50+ years behind these clubs in terms of exposure and the building of a brand to rival big club worldwide.
I'm sorry if I offended you as a city fan, but those types of inroads aren't going to be built overnight. The Sheik has done a fantastic job, don't get me wrong, but City had better pray he can get the financial revenues in order quickly. You just don't grow revenues by hundreds of millions of pounds in such a short amount of time. Your wage bill alone, not factoring in anything else, is larger than your revenues! You can think I'm as wrong as you want, but you just can't turn that kind of profit in football that quickly. From a 2nd tier club to PL champions is amazing, but your fan base and marketing is the key. Look at your match day revenue.
"Manchester City are losing over £7,000,000 per home game and even more for every away game. How long is it until there is a financial meltdown at the Etihad? Will the financial problems be covered up in the present, as they have at Scottish club Rangers - to be uncovered by an unfortunate future generation? Sustainable finance has to be considered now to avoid the grim reality of these unanswered questions."
Sorry but economically, they don't have the match day revenue, global fan base, or demand for their product to grow their incomes to sustain spending. Sure they can hope to break into the new markets and be
the dominant team in that nation, but it's highly unlikely. I could be wrong but the numbers point to me being correct.
If the Sheik can stay around for a few decades and bring several PL and CL titles, then maybe they'll be exposed enough to have a huge global following that can provide them with the revenues they require. The youth academy will be key, but again, they are behind all of the other established clubs already! Man City are not going to have a monopoly on youth development. It will help, but it's still not enough I'm sorry to say. I would like to say I hope they can get it done, but I would just be lying. Liverpool is having too much of a problem as it is.
Sorry to say we agree to disagree. Enjoy your PL title though, you earned it! I screamed and jumped when Aguero hit that.
