The S&C Coach from my hometown's high school tweeted this and I wanted to share it to show the football stadium. Problem was I didn't know where to put it and I thought it would be interesting to have a thread where members could share info on their hometowns and any connections they have with ND.

Our FB stadium is a converted baseball stadium that used to be the home of the New York Baseball Giants minor league team. Frank Leahy lived in the lakefront community of Long Beach on the town's NW side. He was part of the group that brought the Giants to town. It was converted to football-only back in the 90's. When SC plays at ND, they stay in MC and practice at Ames Field. Across the street from the entrance to the field is the Skwiat Post - American Legion. Folks used to gather there and boo the Trojans as they walked in for practice. My hometown is VERY Polish Catholic much like South Bend's westside so ND Football was the one team 95% of people agreed on. A lot of the visiting teams used to stay at the old Holiday Inn "Holidome" back in the day. Got into a couple fights with the Penn St fans in 90 & 92. Those are stories that deserve their own thread. Funny thing is, we consolidated HS's changed the colors to Navy / White / Gray and where white out uni's like PSU.

Being 30 minutes from South Bend, my hometown has many connections with ND. All bring them up later.

Our hometown stadium is just bleachers and we're historically not that good at football. I was on the track team with Nick Setta who was two years behind me. He's our our tie to ND football outside of me painting the helmets as a freshman manager. I like to think I has a say in steering him to ND. (Note. I did not lol)

Lol close. Bought a house in Lakewood Falls at Weber and I-55 back in the 90's. Drove through Lockport twice a week on the way to work at the car dealerships in Orland.

My current town is where the Mabrey gals are from. Great stewards of ND women’s basketball.

My original hometown doesn't have any real ties to ND. Closest thing would probably be my grandparents donating money to the Science building, there's a room dedicated to the family inside. It's a smallish college town between Cleveland and Columbus. There's Amish communities around the area, and a lot of smaller farm lands and villages. Not a lot of famous people to come out of Ashland. There's a couple NFL players and stock/Nascar drivers, but aside from that it's Coach Ron Zook, voice of the Cleveland Indians Matt Underwood, and one of Jose Canseco's former wives

Aside from the University, there's not much there. It does have something else going for it though: it's long been known as the Headquarters of Nice People

My hometown is where Notre Dame is
I didn’t know there are civilian homes with Notre Dame, IN addresses. That’s cool.

We’re looking at a couple of little houses over in Mishawaka right now.

46556 Goes from Angela Blvd west to East to twykingham (probably spelling it wrong), north on twykingham and around Warren Golf then west toward and around Saint Mary’s / Holy Cross back along thr St Joe River back to Angela. Everything on Eddy St is South Bend. Only housing is Student housing I thought.

Niles has some decent areas. That is where Coach Heistand lives.

Remind me who your son plays for. We have had this conversation already. Both mine an upcoming senior and upcoming sophomore play for Macon County.

My hometown has some kind of race scheduled for this Sunday. Apparently, it’s a big deal. 😉

Saturday we had lunch at Big Woods on Main St. Speedway is always a good time during the month of May.

My hometown had our own school until about 1968, when a few of the towns all joined together. We still have the football field and the pee wees still play there. It's multipurpose and our Teener League team uses it as well for baseball. When we had a Legion Baseball team the field had the distinction of having the deepest center field that was fenced in across the country for Legion.

My (now closed) high school was a small catholic school just outside of town. Out football field and baseball fields were connected, and we had a very small amount of bleachers. But, it really was a neat small school feel and out parents/fans did what they could to be loud. On top of that, we never had lights, so every home game was on Saturdays. It was amazing come October seeing the trees behind the north endzone change colors.

In our area, though, we do have some very cool high school stadiums. Pottsville, where Yuengling is from, has a beautiful WPA built stadium with a stone wall all around the facility. Panther Valley high school has permanent bleachers only on one side (and a couple on the visitor side), but what makes it unique is the home side bleachers are stadium style WITH a roof over all of that side.

At least meet up for a drink or a game… then see where it goes. Lol. It would be hilarious if we are neighbors. I live in Terre Brook area. As long as you aren’t married to the biotch right behind me, Ronda be trippn.
You're in Elkhart Granger. I'm in Country Knolls, closer to Gumwood.

Darin Erstad (1995 #1 MLB draft pick) is from my hometown. Won a world series with the Angels. He also won a national championship playing football at Nebraska.
