So didn't Yankee fans when they heard he'd be the opening day 3rd basemen.

Who schedules an off day after Opening Day when the opponent for the following two days is the same as on Opening Day?

Is Mayor Bloomberg filling the tax coffers with 4 day hotel fees for 3 game sets?

NY and BOS played Monday, were off today, and play again Wednesday and Thursday. Then after that Thursday night game, NY has a 1pm Friday game in Detroit.

The Replacements Get A Win

The Replacements Get A Win

Pettite gives up one run in 8 innings for NY's first win. Rivera gets the save. Gardner and Cevelli ( who else?) provide the long ball muscle.

In surprise move, Phil Hughes to start Saturday for Yankees - CBSSports.com

...

One concern -- in addition to facing a lineup that includes the likes of Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder, Austin Jackson, Torii Hunter and Victor Martinez -- is that Hughes never faced major-league hitters during spring training. Because of his back issues, he was limited to live batting practice, simulated outings and extended spring-training encounters with farmhands. To say the least, that's quite different from facing the reigning AL champs.

Joba Chamberlain shaved off his mustache "because it wasn't doing the team any good".

NY responded with a 7-0 win over Detroit.

NY is 2-0 since Joba shaved his 'stache.

13 hits, pair of Cano HRs, and Joba pitched a scoreless inning to cut his ERA to a robust 13.50.

The Replacements are hot!

CC Sabathia's fastball has averaged over 94.5 mph in his career. Monday it averaged 90.58, according to Brooksbaseball.net. Considering the injuries to the offense, if that's the best effort Sabathia can muster, the Yankees really are screwed

I can't believe this thread is still around, and a small part of me hates it.

Was that due to a premonition of tonight's game?

14-1, 18 hits, 5 HRs, 6 Doubles by The Bronx Replacements.

The Old Man allows 1 run on 5 hits over 7.

Yankees haven't lost in 5 days since Joba shaved his stache.

3 wins, 2 rainouts

1/2 game out of First.

IF the rains can continue for the next month ...

On the other hand The Replacements lead the AL East in B.A., Runs, HRs, and are 3rd in ERA. 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, and 10th in AL.

Joba's Stache Stays Undefeated

Joba's Stache Stays Undefeated

4 game win streak and The Replacements are in First Place!

A gift from the O's outfield opens the door for 3 unearned runs.

Meanwhile NY turned a Triple Play, the hard way. It was scored 4-6-5-6-5-3-4. First TP they've made at home since '68.

On the wounded front Nunez got hit on the throwing wrist with a pitch and had to leave the game. Pettite has back spasms and his start will be pushed back.

****...A scan of Jeter's ankle revealed a small crack. Cashman says he's out until at least the all star break.

Derek who?

Derek who?

The Replacements are in Second Place, having won 8 of last 10, playing .600 ball to date.

Cashman looking brilliant as long as CC, Pettite, and Kuroda hold up.
