This is seriously a topic we are talking about on here?
Jesus I hate the offsesason.
Yeah that happened, but I don't remember which game. He broke his collar bone on it too I believe.
Most of the Michigan games from 06-11 are kind of this blurred nightmare revolving around a cluster of bad calls, horrible pass interference's, and Denard f-ing Robinson.
You mean this RB?

He was out.
How about that screw job on Stanford when they were clearly in the endzone vs ND?

Just so insane. Like seriously... it even gets booed AT STANFORD. Big East calls it a TD, it's a TD, there is no evidence that it's not a TD.... and PAC 10 refs overturn it in the booth. SMH.

"A review of the game film shows that Meeker completely missed his blocking assignment on the play and had fallen straight to the ground. The flag stunned Parseghian and his players and changed the momentum of the game."[/B]

In a DVD I have of the history of the "Ara" era, the players say that on the goalline they would literally not use their hands so that they would never get a holding call. They'd hold their arms in an X over their chests. I can't remember if the film shows that, I can't find anything from the game on youtube.

Those sort of calls just stay with you. We had one in a game against PSU in '83 that was so bad that some of the PSU fans booed it and even Paterno admitted it was a bad call. We got our butts kicked for 3 quarters and trailed 34-7 in the 4th, but scored 3 td's to make it 34-28. With 8 seconds left we threw a td into the back of the endzone for the apparent win. The guy caught it cleanly, had it tucked into his body, and came down inbounds, yet the ref ruled it incomplete.

The kicker is one of the officials was a former PSU player and had a nephew who was on the team that season. Several other teams had complained about that crew's obvious bias in favor of PSU. SI did an article the following week about how bad it was and the problem with refs calling a game for their former school. Weird thing is that they did call offsides on PSU that play and the former player isn't the one who made the bad call on the td. I still don't know if that crew was biased or just made an inexplicable call that was obviously wrong.
That's so interesting. I think the biggest flaw with collegiate officiating are the conflicts of interest. Why not go to national NCAA refs and make sure no ref works a game where they have a COI? Just seems like such an easy fix. I've heard many a Big Ten fan complain that a really large percentage of refs live in Michigan and they get some ridiculous calls in their favor on the regular.
The SEC wants only southern guys as refs because northern refs lack sufficient speed.
Seattle-Green Bay 2012. Tate did not.... did not... come close to catching that ball. I feel bad for the replacement refs though so I wont hold it against them.

Shame on the Angry Mob: Golden Tate’s Touchdown Was LegitWant the short or long version? You know you are getting the long anyway, but if you need a summary, then here it goes.
The short version: Golden Tate had the first control of the ball, catching it with his left hand, which never loses control of the ball throughout the entire process of the play. His two feet hit the ground to establish possession before M.D. Jennings establishes possession. Tate’s butt hits the ground, and at this point, he still has control, possession and is in the end zone for a good touchdown. Tate pushed off for an uncalled offensive pass interference that would have ended the game, but this is irrelevant when history shows no referee in football will make such a call on a Hail Mary. Seattle’s win is legit.
The long version will now go through the whole catch, and the key is to look at a frame-by-frame analysis.
While slow-motion replays are sexier for TV, you have to take a frame-by-frame approach to get evidence of what really happens. No matter how many replays you watch from whatever angles you find, it is the exact frames at the key moments that will tell you what really happened, and why this is a touchdown.

Don Denkinger and Jim Joyce to name a few.
Forgot all about that. I was there that night too. Horrid call and it only got worse the more I watched replays.Atlanta Braves 8th Inning Infield Fly Rule Controversy against STL Cardinals | LIVE 10-5-12 - YouTube
screwed the braves out of the play offs
It was at Michigan in 2009 on their awful ring of concrete by the stands. I don't remember them being in consecutive weeks but it looks like they were.
You said the name of "he who must not be named."
