Just want to give a very high level thought - despite their struggles of late, Wisconsin has mucked it up for great teams repeatedly over the past few seasons. They scared Oregon twice and suffocated IU's run game last year. They are a functioning offense away from being a top 20 team. With the way Michigan looked on Saturday, I could see Wisconsin being a fringe top 5 Big Ten team at year's end. Fickell and Dressel are still great defensive minds.

Wisconsin is one of those teams (along with Iowa, Pitt, and I'm certainly missing some) that will randomly show up and give you a game

Don't worry though, they'll go out the next week and lose to (insert team ND beat by 35).

I hadn't really noticed it until Dale posted re. Carr's preference on throws not being friendly to the slot, but re-watching the game and some from last year, you can see it (in the limited, I really don't know the game as well as other's type of way). I think lots have said it, but certainly no reason to stress over the WR room yet (1 game right?). I know there's time until he's back but I'm excited for Porter to get back and hopefully the game against Rice lends itself for some of the backup/younger guys to get PT and see what they can do. Everyone knows it: Talent is in that room, just have to see who can rise to the occasion and showcase it. Same thing with the RB room and the different types of backs we have. As the year goes on, I'm excited to see who ends up being those "dudes" on offense.

Everyone knows it's going to boil eventually. It starts with a little bubble or two, then more, until it's a bubbling out of the pot. In other words, the first half doesn't matter because we don't keep half time scores, we keep game scores. Once ND was boiling there was nothing Wisconsin could do about it.

ND offensively this year is going to be methodical. Won't be sexy, especially since we don't have a game breaker. But will be absolutely efficient in my opinion. I expect us to continue to grow and improve over the course of the year like we always do.

You know what offense that sounds like?

ND in 2024.

I have full confidence in this team still.

Why can’t Faison be a game breaker? Because he’s a former walk on and Lax player? Everything he showed on Sunday indicates he can absolutely be a dude. He was a missed throw away from a 5/110ish stat line.

I think he's great. When I say game breaker, I mean like a Toney, Will Fuller, Love, etc., who at any moment is going to take one to the house.

I bet Faison has a couple explosives this year. Greathouse/Graham probably will too. But they aren't 1st round NFL talents that you can expect to take it to the house on any given down.

I do think there is as weird thing with the national coverage where Faison will force a missed tackle and it’s the gritty former lacrosse player versus when Toney, Craver, Branch etc do it it’s they are electric playmakers. Faison ranks near the top with a ton of NFL prospects/picks in various WR categories and it’s usually minimized

But in fairness, most of those guys you still would call a normal WR2 projecting to the NFL that you would pair with an alpha WR1 type.

Yeah he was destroying guys and breaking ankles in the open field. Only limits on his game are going to be in the red zone / jump balls / things like that. He was already good, and committing to football full time seems to have given him an extra boost.

A 20 yard dig to the wide side of the field with 10 yards of YAC is as high level NFL prospect as you can get from Carr and Faison as well as the OL giving him a perfect pocket for 3+ seconds.

Is that Greathouse coming out of the slot? Is that not a TD if he throws that post out in front of him? Nit-picky considering the result of the play and obviously is schemed to be the reason Faison had as much open space as he had.

Safety on the rights drops straight instead of to the right is C3, middle of the field closed so he throws the dig. He should have thrown the post to Greathouse if they dropped in to C2. Awkward drop by that safety so yeah I could see how he could have torched him with a perfectly timed ball but it wouldn’t have been the read.

Also interesting they had the TE at boundary there. Premer time soon
