Finish with Keys, C'Bo, and Brown.

I'm 50/50 on Patterson. I think if we recruited him earlier or had HH, I'd be a lot more confident.

That would work, though I kind of hate them too lol. You are right though, What a disappointing program. I get pissed off everytime I think of losing Anthony Barr to them.

I mean he did take out Matt Barkley just before we played them, which was quite convenient for us.

If you offered me those 3, take it or see how it plays out, I'd take it.

But I do just have a good feeling on Patterson.

OL - Jarrett Patterson & NPF
RB - Tre Watson (Cal Grad Transfer)
WR - Lawrence Keys III
LB - Solomon Tuliaupupu
DB - Julius Irvin, Taiyon Palmer, Noah Boykin

Hopefully we can land 3-4 of these guys and call it a day. I think OL will be fine if we get 1 more guy but I think both should be takes because they can both play. RB I think we should take a grad transfer because I don't like the scraps that are left in the 2018 recruiting class (Tre Watson is pretty dang good). I think WR is Lawrence Keys III or bust which is fine. LB is similar to WR as we I think are just taking Solo if he wants in and not because we need a body. DB I think we have the numbers so I hope they keep recruiting one of the 3 4* guys real hard and hopefully one ends up in Blue & Gold although it looks very doubtful. I hope they don't just scramble for a last minute lowly ranked guy because the numbers are fine back there (look at what safety is with a ton of developmental guys, but not a ton of talent). I think if we sign 25-26 guys on Feb. 7, we should be fine in getting to the 85 number because that would mean we would have 100-101 guys signed for next season (transfers, NFL draft, medicals, dismissals cut into that already) which is 2-3 more than last season and we were close to 85 around camp time. Also, we could pick up a transfer after spring ball like Cameron Smith from Arizona State last year.

Irivn and Palmer are done, no chance there. Boykin is coin flip. We have the best chance with Brown, who's not on your list.

Serious question, when you create these posts/lists, what do you use for info?

lol jk 247Sports, Rivals, Twitter, GradTransferTracker.com

So then you'd have seen where Palmer is not visiting nor considering us going forward and Irvin is essentially down to USC, UW, and Bama. I guess I'm just confused, if you follow things as closely as you illustrate above, why would those two still be on the list?

Who do you guys think we close with? Let's take some guesses.

I think it rounds out nicely and we get:

Keys at WR
C'bo at RB
DJ Brown at CB
Derrek Eason at DE if ND wants him (I personally would pass and they might too)
Jarrett Patterson

Keys
C’bo
DJ brown maybe

I believe we only finish with the two. And a possibly Brown. I wish I could add Tolo to the mix I just don’t think it’ll happen.

Taiyon Palmer has scheduled 4 official visits: 12/16 Vandy, 1/13 Nebraska, 1/20 NC State, 1/27 Clemson. Now I don't have a subscription to any of these sites so I'm not positive, but I haven't seen anything where he's mentioned he's absolutely not taking a visit to ND. And who's to say Brian Kelly doesn't fly down to Georgia, knock on his door, and convince him to come for that early February weekend visit. I'm not saying we even have a good chance, but I just don't close the door until he's schedules the Alabama visit which I think he'll take.

Julius Irvin has taken an OV to 5 schools and has USC in the mix outside of the other 5. Brian Polian was in his living room 9 days ago so I'm not ready to mark it off as committed to USC, yet. Do I think he's coming to ND? No. But he almost committed to the program one month ago, who's to say his mind isn't changed once again in the next 10 days.

And also this is a list of guys who I started by saying, "Hopefully we can land 3-4 of these guys". Sort of a list of guys that have visited, were maybe interested at one point, and I'd love to see in Blue and Gold. Not exactly who I think will end up at ND because we aren't taking all 8 prospects from my list.

Why? I realize he’s now considered less-than-likely but why would we give up on him?

Other way around. On his end of things, they are telling people ND is out. His "camp" told Rivals that, my assumption, his dad told rivals that. That's why putting him on a list of potential targets is pointless, it's fools gold. Similar to Palmer, because though the staff has visited, he's not setting up an OV and is not coming to ND. Time to move on.

Big picture, the reason those posts by NDMIA are troublesome, they illustrate a picture that isn't accurate. Similar to his DE post recently. 4 of the 5 had no ND interest, at the time of the writing of said post.

One of the reasons that 247's board is in meltdown mode almost 24/7, is they fail to grasp what is actually happen and then move on from that. So, instead of dealing with Irvin not being an option at this time, they'll be freaking out on NSD when he signs with USC or Bama. When in reality, he hadn't been an option for multiple weeks. Same goes for Palmer. For those that come to this site on 1/25 to get an accurate look at "who's next", Irvin shouldn't be anywhere near this page. It's essentially setting up a narrative that will inevitably be negative.

That's the same attitude Houston had about Greenberry.

Gotcha. Must have missed that. Last I remembered on Irvin we were analyzing whether Seattle is meaningfully closer to Anaheim than South Bend is, which I took to mean we were still in the mix. If not, agreed it’s unproductive to list ships that have sailed.

Actually shaping up to be a really exciting NSD or ND. Last couple have been kind of anti-climatic.

We have legitimate shots to land the below on/before NSD, but none are locks other than probably C'bo and DJ Brown:

Lawrence Keys
C'Bo Flemming*
DJ Brown*
Nicolas Petit-Ferrer
Jarrett Patterson
Solo Tuliapupu
Derrick Eason

Missing anyone? Shake your 8-ball, who do we get?

Derrick Eason. Some have written him off, but it sounds like he may be a take.

In terms of who's next? I go with C'Bo and feel pretty confident on that one. Sounds like it should be coming soon.

Good call, edited.

Touche. I don't care who's next because we're going to know everyone's answer soon enough, but I felt this was the most appropriate thread to bring it all together.

It's all good, it's just an easier question to answer. As the board might actually start to change as we start getting some silent commits.

In terms of confidence. I'd go:

C'Bo
Brown
Keys/Eason
Patterson
NPF
Solo

This is already probably my favorite class in recent memory. Even more than 2013 if I'm being honest. Landing anybody else at this point would really just be icing on the cake, but it sounds like we may end up with a few so it's really just super exciting.

Good thing to hear is we aren't just a hat on the table for some of these guys like NPF and Solo.. Our guys are grinding recruiting and giving these kids/parents something to think about.

Absolutely. Though I do think it’s hard when you’re fighting hometown schools, which are also elite programs, for late-deciding toss-up kids like NPF or Solo. It’s just so easy for them to stay home.
So trying not to get hopes up.

Outlining possible Crystal Ball movements on the horizon
Trying to predict what the 247Sports Crystal Ball will do is a difficult, but we're trying anyway.

With three days until Feb. 7’s National Signing Day, there are only two things that can happen with the 247Sports Crystal Ball. We’re either going to see drastic, pendulum-swinging movements on several recruits, or it’s just plain going to bust when some of these blue-chippers step to the podium with their commitments on Wednesday.

Let’s look at Top247 recruits that could still have major swings.

The forecasts on the Crystal Ball for No. 1 cornerback Patrick Surtain Jr. have been all LSU for much of the process but word out of Coral Gables this weekend as Miami takes its final swing at the five-star from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage is that Surtain may be just as keen on Alabama.

Florida is the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite for top-ranked offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere, commanding 64 percent of the forecasts. Obviously the in-state program checks many of the boxes for Petit-Frere but I still wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up at Notre Dame or Ohio State so a flurry of picks for one of those schools could be coming soon.

The Crystal Ball reads 90 percent for USC for in-state cornerback Olaijah Griffin, but 247Sports insider Greg Biggins is hearing Alabama is definitely on the mind of the Mission Viejo standout. Could the Crimson Tide pull two upsets at the position in Surtain and Griffin? Nick Saban and Alabama are Heartbreak U on the recruiting trail every year, with a knack for taking prospects each cycle long-considered leans elsewhere.

USC holds every forecast on the 247Sports Crystal Ball for Top247 linebacker Solomon Tuliaupupu but I’m told UCLA is making this a tough decision late in the process.

LSU is the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite for Top247 athlete Mario Goodrich but my forecast is in the minority as it stands right now for Clemson.

All 26 forecasts are riding with South Carolina for Concord (NC) High Top247 defensive tackle Rick Sandidge but at the very least Georgia has made this one interesting down the stretch.

Late last week I flipped my 247Sports Crystal Ball back to Virginia Tech for Shelby (NC) High Top247 linebacker Dax Hollifield, but something tells me we’re really sleeping on the late charge from Clemson. He grew up a Tigers fan and told 247Sports last week he’s strongly considering that opportunity. Hollifield also had an epic in-home visit with North Carolina on Saturday where they helicoptered in. The Tar Heels staff was creative throughout the process in making Hollifield feel like a priority and they saved their best stuff for last.

Is everybody left on our 2018 board scheduled for a signing day announcement, or are some guys supposed to declare today/tomorrow?
