Man I remember that thread. Getting the news that McKenzie might actually have the grades to commit and then him revealing that Va Tech is his "dream school". That 2014 class was pretty fun to follow towards the end

I was working a bad job and hated my life, any distraction was welcome at that point. Plus the twists and turns were ridiculous. Do you not recall somebody threatening to call ND and demand to know why the BVG hire hadn't been announced?

FYI, Oweh IS a take for OSU, per ISD and they want him.

If Tyreke Smith happened to commit to OSU before Oweh, that would change.

Agree 100%. He isn't as good as who've they signed, or who they will sign in 2018 or 2019. But he'd be at least a 2 year starter here almost guaranteed.

Did he do that great? I heard he was good, but I didn't hear glowing reviews, or hear about him turning everyone's heads. Some of these kids balled out. Slayer and Fields obviously two of them.

IMO I think that's too high for him. No offers from ND, OSU, Michign or Mich. ST. He's 22 spots ahead of Jayson Oweh and I would take Oweh in a New York minute over O'Rourke. Derrik Allen not even a top 100 player? Ridiculous.

This is why I take these rankings with a grain of salt. Allen is easily a top 100 player and I'd say that even if he were going to another school. And how did Master Teague go from nowhere to a top 50 player?

If you're highly rated, you can be really good and still fall. The best of the best end up at the Opening finals. Sometimes really good doesn't stack up against elite.

Yankoff got some big ones to go into UDub with Sirmon who has family ties to the school/program.

I can't believe SC isn't in the full court press on him.

If Phil J didn't exist, Yankoff would be right behind Justin Fields on my hit list.

I ask because Ja'mion Franklin was at the Opening, but is still a 3-star and didn't move in the 247 rankings. Still the 583rd player in the nation.

Only the top 247 so far. Probably will roll out the overall after other sites update too.

For the record, I just realized that post came off salty, which I am not. Thought the kid was a beast and wish we would have landed him. Just thought it was a little ironic that ND won't accept (IMO) this McKenzie's commitment just yet either.

Living in Georgia and being familiar with the other McKenzie he would not have been a good fit at ND. As to the newest McKenzie I fully understand them not taking his commit yet as they have a real numbers crunch and safety isn't as big a need as some other positions.
