North Carolina and Wisconsin aren't big time offers but South Carolina (bottom feeder of the SEC), PSU (Franklin is an absolute joke), and Nebraska (left the Big 12 thinking they would dominate the Big 10, but they still haven't won a Big 10 Championship) are? Hmmmm. I'd be willing to bet that UNC and Wisconsin would beat all three of those teams head to head.

I said this was an arbitrary list and there's no way to avoid arbitration when saying what a 'big time' offer is.

I don't think NC or Wisconsin offers really shake up someone's recruitment. But if you want me to count those, make that 20 big time offers for Mr. Isaiah Wilson :).

I'm just saying, if you want to tell me they're big time gets because of their film, I have no beef because I haven't watched. But based on their rankings and offer lists, these are not big time recruits.

So don't get me excited for no reason.

Anyone else with 'next' projections?

Next - 'ban Koon'.

Lol - didn't mean to come at your post Rizz - I just like to rain on the parade when I think it's appropriate. I don't want us to get too excited even though as Irish fans, there's always next year ;).

Haha, thank you resident excitement police.

I'll speak for myself, I'd be pretty darn excited with that group, and I don't need you telling me whether I should be or not, lol.

All of them are consistently in the top 5 in recruiting every year but yes continue on with stars don't matter, if you want to win it all it sure helps to have those stars based on the teams above

Stars don't matter regarding the individual player. Nobody is saying you don't need high 4 and 5 stars to win a NC. Also, everybody has to take 3 stars. The trick is to get the 3 stars that turn into high 4's and 5's.

Lol. I am not sure Notre Dame is even in Beal's Top 3 right now. I believe they will have a chance to make a move, but they are falling behind.

? Falling behind? They just recently jumped into contention. Is this a new development?

If not, I have to disagree. If anything it's the opposite. We're not falling behind, we're gaining steam. He's eliminated the idea of going to the same school as his sister, his grandmother lives in South Bend and he's transferring to IMG. All of those are factors in ND's favor.

The defensive ends recruiting looks to gain the kind of inertia and drive that in might force several to commit to insure they have spots.

That doesn't exclude any from de-committing later. So I am sure the staff is all over the increased activity.

With Andrew Trumbetti being our biggest pass rushing threat I'm thinking/hoping a stud DE (hopefully Beal) will see the opportunity of early playing time matched with a great degree and National Championship possibilities during their 3-5 years and jump at our offer. Not to be negative about Trumbetti. I think he's great, but I think we would massively benefit from having a freakish quick pass-rushing DE to pair with him. If Beal commits he could come in and play as a True Freshman with good preparation.

Dude incredible post man, you might be the minority on wanting this but I agree 100%. Damn would that just be something

Thank you sir. The only real concern I have about our team in the next few years is our pass rush. We NEED an impact DE in the '17 class otherwise it's going to be the coaching staff and all of ND nation praying for someone to make a huge leap in their game. Not to be negative but unless a guy like Jamir Jones or Julian Okwara end up blowing everyone away as redshirt Frosh or True Soph., we might struggle in that category again and if we want a championship I don't know that we can afford that. I think our DB situation going forward is solid and I like our linebacking core, Morgan, Martini, Bilal, Ono, Coney, Barajas etc. (that's a lot of youth with a TON of potential) not to mention our incoming class of 3 studs.....but our WDE situation needs a spark. Again, only my opinion.

You don't think a majority of us want a stud DE or am I misunderstanding your post?

Don't sleep on Daelin Hayes.

That's a good call. I often forget about him as he hasn't played much at all the last few years, missed spring practise and I haven't seen his tape really. He has great size and could end up helping us out this year. I guess he was considered 5 star talent by some....I love that. Finger's crossed. GO IRISH

He practiced this spring but with no major contact to let his shoulder heal up. His tape from HS is fun to watch ... albeit short because, as you said, he didn't play much due to injuries. Let's hope the extra healing time brings him back to 100% plus added strength from Longo. I think he is going to get his chances this year. If he plays to his potential he will help on passing downs IMO.

I sure hope so. That'd be JUST what we need. If he could come in and make a few plays the way Kolin Hill did in his first game or two, but for the whole season, that'd be a MAJOR upgrade for us. I must add he was a way higher prospect than Hill was so maybe that wasn't the best comparison to make but it was the only one that popped up in my head in recent memory regarding Freshman pass rushers, unless we wanna go back to Aaron Lynch...but I doubt it. hahaha.

This thread's gone Twilight Zone.

Did Khalid Kareem transfer or something?

People have to remind other posters to not sleep on a 5 Star talent who's only a 4 star Comp because of injury?

Jeebuz.

FWIW, I'm a pretty big fan of Daley and I think he could bring a pass rush from Day 1. Won't be able to play every down but I think he'd definitely have a shot at contributing in pass rush situations. I post this as it seems like ND fans see Beal, Kaindoh, etc. as the only guys that we can get that type of play from. Now those guys, especially Beal, is a better player but there are other guys out there that can help

I don't project Kareem as a WDE, big-time edge rusher though. Kareem looks more like a Rochell 2.0 in my eyes.

I don't either. New guy didn't say anything about WDE vs SDE. SDE's are still allowed to apply pressure in the BVG scheme right? (italics?)

I think Aaron Lynch is the type of player Hayes could be, with maybe fewer snaps ... pass rush specialist as a freshman. Fingers crossed.

Yes, but generally the primary edge rusher is on the weakside. Kareem can rush the passer, but I don't see him as our primary edge rusher.
