I think ESPN had a way too early prediction out and we lined up against Cincy in the Military Bowl.

I saw a couple predictions of Iowa. Our offense is better than theirs, at least. I'd take that.

Bowl predictions yesterday from espn showed, IIRC:

Utah - Holiday bowl
Purdue - Pinstripe

Palm (CBS) has us in the Gator vs Arkansas. He must think we’ll win 8 to get there

Hopefully not Oregon State. They are 2-0 against ND in bowl games and now they are ranked. Watch out.
Either you're the troll and back (pathetic), or you've been lurking and made a great reference joke (awesome).

I'm leaning to the former though...

Just in case some aren't aware Oregon St's coach was their QB the first time we played them.

Is there a possibility to get an SEC matchup? I’d love to get a crack at LSU

You know we’d get Bama,… with our backup QB and all our draft prospects sitting out while all of theirs show up and ball out

Give me Tulane, Liberty or Penn St,… any of those third rate programs…

*Edit: I’m sorry, that was unfair. I apologize to Tulane and Liberty.
Hey now! Tulane was ranked No. 1 in the country by Princeton Review for having the Happiest Students, Liberty is the #1 Christian University in Virginia, and well.........we all know what Penn State is #1 in 😬😬😬

The only realistic shot at a NY6 is the Cotton Bowl, right? Sugar will be highest ranked SEC team not in playoffs against Big 12, Rose will be BIG and PAC and Orange will be ACC champ against someone who didn't kick their ass already.

By rights we should get that ACC spot in the Orange. But feels like it would take a fair bit of chaos for us to reach the NY6 as an at-large. Probably too much. Which is fine, really.

The way I see it the only two possible matchups for Notre Dame in a NY6 bowl would be as follows.

Cotton Bowl vs. winner of AAC conference championship game (UCF vs. Cincinnati/Tulane winner from week 13)
Orange Bowl vs. Clemson or UNC (or Florida State if UNC loses the next two weeks and Clemson makes the semis)

Neither of which is interesting.

A rematch against Clemson or UNC would not be good. Beat them a second time and it would feel like "been there done that" and lose to them and it would diminish the initial win.

And who would want to play a Group of 5 school in a NY6 game? Yuck. Win and it's expected and lose and you're the laughing stock.

In years in which the Peach and Fiesta are final 4 games, Notre Dame's path to a NY6 bowl outside of the semifinals is pretty difficult and boring. I don't know why they couldn't separate Peach/Fiesta from being the semis pairing every 3 years. Would have made much more sense to pair one of these 3 with Rose/Sugar/Orange each year.

That being said, it's doubtful Notre Dame even would be selected for either of these games even if they beat USC.

Penn State would be selected to the Cotton Bowl over Notre Dame. The only way Notre Dame would get selected to the Cotton Bowl over Penn State would be if both Michigan and Ohio State make the semifinals (not happening) or Penn State loses at home to Michigan State (not happening).

Here's the full possibilities...
Sugar Bowl: TCU/Kansas State vs. Alabama/Tennessee/LSU
Rose Bowl: Michigan/Ohio State/Big 10 West champion vs. USC/Oregon/Utah/Washington
Orange Bowl: UNC/Clemson/Florida State vs. Penn State/Alabama/Tennessee/LSU/Notre Dame
Cotton Bowl: UCF/Cincinnati/Tulane vs. Penn State/Alabama/Tennessee/LSU/Washington/Utah/Oregon
