Who do you want to replace Brian Kelly?

It tells me when you have roster holes and crappy coaches it doesn't matter how good your "strong" units are if teams can exploit your weaknesses.

Joe Schmidt at MLB next to Jaylon Smith; the perennial depth holes at DB; etc. etc.

I cant argue with this. I would add lack of impact players and leadership as well which stars dont accurately reflect.

I want no one to replace him.

I want him to get to 10-3 this year, 11-2 in 2018 and a run at the playoffs, no worse than 10-3 in '19 and then win it all with Phil at QB his Jr. year when the Irish have the best front 7 in the country and a defensive line that resembles the CFB version of the '85 Bears

You know what would be really nice with that D line? Letting Brian Williams loose picking off errant passes left and right.

This would be great.

Doesn't sound like that's gonna happen but I have ZERO fear about the safety position going forward.

There's Top 10 in the country potential at safety in ND's pipeline right now. Just gotta wait on it to play out.

Hard to believe the promise that safety and DT have when forecasting 2-3 years out considering I was ready to jump off the ledge in Q1 of '16

Who's the free?

To your last paragraph, you're right. It's pretty crazy to see how far the coaching staff has turned around on DT and S recruiting.
