They are flirting with Nike to leverage an extension from UA.

could be for recruiting, i know the tail number on a plane ND has used before is N42ND.

On that link it shows the aircraft or type of aircraft being flown here.
https://flightaware.com/photos/aircrafttype/C25C

N42ND fits that description or photos in that link describing the aircraft scheduled for this flight

This is amazing detective work and I'm personally loving the investigation and speculation. Might be the most exciting time to be a ND fan for the next couple of years so sit back, dream and enjoy!

So if he goes to Oregon, are we free of his buyout I assume? The ledger would be balanced and we could hire?

If BK is indeed taking the Ducks job, then ND won't be on the hook for much if any of BK's salary. He loses leverage when he is leaving on his own accord versus getting the boot.

So for the next 6 - 12 twelve hours we speculate, investigate, and conjugate.

Weren't there Hoke to ND rumors when he was fired from Michigan? Maybe an off-the-field assistant job next season? Assuming of course this is BK/ND going to interview someone.

You'll start crying the minute the new HC is announced and it isn't from the list that you want. lol

IIRC, the rumors arose because Hoke and Kelly were on set together as talking heads for some television dealie. I don't think there was any real substance.

i've been DOX'ed on IE dangit :D

Im guessing this flight is to interview Hoke for the DC gig, moreso than for getting BK a ride to meet with Oregon right?

yeah I don't think ND lends a jet to BK to go interview with Oregon, if a jet from Oregon was coming to SB then perhaps.

I hope he's not interviewing fred flintstone, and if he is, hopefully its just due diligence kind of stuff.

You would if you were on the hook for his contract coming off a 4-8 season.

That's a non-factor.

If he hires Hoke, wow. Utter failure is the only words. Oregon had depth issues but guess who else does next year? Us. That would be such a horrible hire, so I fully expect it now.

I think it would be absolutely hysterical if the university is paying for his ride to interview for another job.

Hoke has spent most of his career as a DL coach. After this last turn in Eugene, being a (highly paid) positional coach at a premium school might be an outcome he's happy with.

Maybe he's hiring Hoke for DL coach? That'd be a killer hire, which was the original plan right before 2015, before it got squashed at the last minute.

Yeah, No. The school thats hiring courts the coach they want, not the other way around, at least typically.

I have been to two of the last three coaches clinics, and have seen the way BK and JS interact with each other.

I'm not claiming to be in the Know, but the two guys respect the hell out of eachother, that is plain and easy to see. it is for this reason, plus the fact that BK has shown he can get ND to the title game, and within a whiff of a playoff berth, that BK is still our coach.

yep that's a more likely scenario in my mind. He'd hardly have Hoke take over as DC though would he? Can Hoke coach any position group other than DL (his speciality)?

If it saved you several million dollars, why not?

Isn't Hoke a great recruiter? I guess I'd be open to considering that assuming BK stays.

It makes no sense to hire a positional coach if you don't know who the DC is going to be going forward. What if that DC has his own DL guy?

Something about all this is weird.

You guys actually think that flight is for a ND football coaching related situation? It's very likely it's just a pedestrian flight going to Eugene, no?

The "ND" at the end of the plane number could be a complete coincidence. Supposedly there is no flight record of this plane prior to today so we have no idea. Certainly could be BK flying on behalf of ND. Could be BK flying to Oregon. And it could be something unrelated to football.

This is a simultaneous coach exchange. Hence the two planes and timing. Kelly is being flown to Eugene to take the Oregon job while Helfrich is being flown to South Bend to take ND job.

Phil Knight is underwriting all costs as "Donations to the health and welfare of each university." Knight will also underwrite the cost of a DC and an AD for ND , both to be named later.

If BK is taking the Oregon job, he's taking it whether he flys commercial or on NDs plane, or on oregons plane or accepts the job over the phone. the plane ride has nothing to do with the buyout.

Could be a prank. Can you make a fake flight log?
