1) Do you think there is any chance of that happening again this year?

Really, I'd doubt any of them come back. There seemed to be harder feelings with regards to the decommits this time around. Kelly calling out Greenberry today. The chatter that we basically told Decker to get lost. Whatever went down with Darby that he wouldn't even take a visit from Kelly last week. Were we even in his hat parade? Feels a little different than with Carlisle or Prestwood.
I'd think the best shots are guys like Poole and Armstead, who were close but didn't pull the trigger. But those odds are slim.

Man...you need to relax a little.

First off, I don't for a minute think any of these guys will pull a Prestwood/Carlisle and change their mind to come here in a year or less. But, since it did happen with those guys, I wanted to get the board's take on IF it might happen again, who did you think would be the most likely guy.

That said, feel free to finish your fifth of cranky sauce and pass out somewhere. Maybe you will wake up in a better mood. Remember, there is more to life than whether some kids decide to go to your favorite school.

There will be limited spots available next year again, so hope and pray they don't even consider taking any of them back (if the situation arises). It's over with this year's recruits, they're history, so move FORWARD! That ought to be the Irish mantra from this point forward ... a recruit gets the opportunity when they're a graduating H.S. senior and if the Irish aren't good enough then, don't come back asking for a 2nd chance!

I think both the Prestwood and Carlisle situations were uniquely different than any of the recruits that were on our radar this year.

Prestwood almost seemed tied to the Lynch saga, albeit not directly, and as an EE in Tallahassee the timeline was a bit more reasonable. Carlisle was a good kid that from all indications handled his selection of another school much better than the young men that we might be considering in this thread. Darby shut us out, and Deontay did us dirty on NSD.

I don't want anyone that didn't want us yesterday. I'm pretty sure this coaching staff feels the same. (Players that signed LOI's elsewhere, that is)

Greenberry is not coming back. While Prestwood and Amir both had ND type attitudes that you knew would fit in perfectly at ND, Benedict Greenberry does not.

And this isn't sour grapes at all. I knew that going in, and I was good with it, as long as he performed. A h.s. coach friend of mine knows the coaches in in Fresno, and he told me that Greenberry was a cocky as they come, and wasn't afraid to let everyone know how good he was. Also said he was a hardcore competitor that would do anything to get on the field (love that).

And then I listened to a USC rivals mod talk about him in December. Said he was a drama queen (basically, but not in those exact words), and that his recruitment would be filled with drama all the way to the final day. In fact, he predicted, just from what his sources said about the kid, that Greenberry would wait until the final day and shock the world by choosing a school like Oregon or something. It pissed me off at the time, but he was dead-on.

And finally, Brandon HUffman was on a podcast the day before signing day, and said that Deontay was a stud that would be bringing a different type of attitude that ND fans aren't used to seeing. The type that just HAD to get on the field, that just HAD to get the ball, and if he didn't, he was going to be pissed and let everyone know about it. Said in all-star games or camps, if he didn't get the ball on offense, he would just stay on the field, not sub out, and play defense even though he wasn't supposed to because he just had to get on the field and make something happen.

Now, when he's on your side, you call him a competitor. When he's not on your team, you call him a potential malcontent and a cancer.

Bottom line is, he's not coming 'back' to ND because he is just not that type of kid.

Good info, thanks. Without knowing any of that he seemed to enjoy the spotlight a little too much. Without Tee, I doubt he would have ever considered ND, IMO.
