I’m hoping I just had a breakthrough,… after playing with setting I can actually lock pick a few things,…
yeah there is an "easy lockpicking" setting that can be enabled. I've played the game on PS4 and PC and its way easier on PC (the platform the game was made for, the PS4 version is just a port)

Damn, I really want to fire this game up (KC: D ) for the first time now, once I finish Planet Crafter. Something about that fucked up start intrigues me. I enjoy clawing my way to the top in games, I generally dislike games that start you off already setup as some badass swordsman. Better to be a nobody in Skyrim or Oblivion than a well known Witcher.

Dude Kingdom Come’s frustrating continues,… I found a tutorial on how to get a sword early on but it involves lock picking,…. And,……. Impossible. It’s not that I’m trying to fight everyone, it’s that I literally cannot progress the story. Help!?

are you on console or PC? The lock picking is ridiculously hard early on especially on console. Best advice is to stealth knockout a Rattay guard instead and steal his gear instead of trying to lockpick the chest.

I cannot get past the parent thing bc the bandits,… we covered this I need a sword. I’m on ps5

I really want to get into this game but Gawd damn,… they made it damn near impossible to survive the tutorial

Okay, I am playing this game next.

So I finished Planet Crafter after about 40 hours. It's Early Access and I got it for $15 maybe on sale? Definitely worth it at that price even as an Alpha release game. The game could have gone on longer, but I cheated at the very end to unlock the last 5 technologies because there really wasn't anything else to do at this point in the game's release, it was just a waiting game at that point.

The game is incredibly chill and is surprisingly a lot of fun. There's no mobs or anything to worry about, in fact there's no life at all to start. You're on a barren planet where you've been tasked to Terraform it as part of your punishment for unknown crimes. The only thing you're fighting against is survival really: providing yourself oxygen, water, and food on a planet with no vegetation, liquid, or atmosphere. It's really cool seeing over time how the planet takes shape from a brown dusty desert and slowly evolves into blue skies, water, plants, etc. You have to build a base, scavenge wrecks, mine, create heaters, drill to release gases into the atmosphere, create energy, and all those kinds of things to Terraform the planet. You'll see lakes slowly begin to materialize over time, plants grow, ice melt...it cooler than it sounds on paper. There's always things to do, and there's a lot to explore.

If I had one negative thing to say it's that there's a pretty loose story there, so don't expect some huge plot. The survival and exploration is the biggest part of the game. There is a story to be had, but it's found organically as you search out ruined wrecks, and as you receive messages on your Communication display, and as you delve into caves and such. I expect they'd add to it as time goes on. Once you've learned the Lore of the planet and what happened there's not much to do end game except continue to Terraform and unlock the last remaining technologies (Which aren't necessary, but are helpful). Currently you can't go farther than unlocking Insects and their mutations, but eventually there will be Fish, Amphibians, etc.

Pretty fun and addicting game even in this Alpha release though, it's getting Overwhelmingly Positive reviews in Steam. Just a few tips if you check it out:
Tip 1 - While you may be inclined to start a base near your crashed Escape Pod since it provides a source of oxygen, I don't advise it...at least not anything more than a temporary base. You'll find out why later. Aim a bit higher up.
Tip 2 - Keep some Ice handy in case you need to melt it later for Water, and don't be afraid to setup a temporary base if you're exploring. You can turn Cobalt into Oxygen tanks this way, or melt the Ice for water.
Tip 3 - Keep an eye on your Tech trees and see where you may be lacking progress. In some cases you need more Heat on the planet to progress, in other areas you may need to increase Oxygen to unlock something you may need.
Tip 4 - Don't neglect scavenging wrecks, especially early on. Without a way to grow or make food you'll need to raid these early on to keep yourself going. You can also find Blueprints inside that unlock free technologies that are super helpful like increased O2 supply or larger backpacks. Just be sure to bring at least a few Oxygen capsules and Waters with you. There are a lot of blue boxes scattered around the planet too that have goodies in them.
Tip 5 - Ore Miners are a game changer, especially as you run out of supplies of Iridium and Aluminum. Tier 1 Miners will pickup the basics: Iron, Cobalt, Silicone, Titanium, Iridium, Sulfur, Magnesium, and Aluminum. 2 or maybe even 3 Miners grabbing Aluminum and Iridium are helpful. Tier 2 Ore Miners later on can get the rest: Osmium, Uranium, Zeolite, and even Super Alloy if you know the exact spot. Super late game Tier 3 Ore Miners can filter for just specific minerals. At some point you can also launch Rockets into space to attract Iridium and Uranium meteors.

I'm eager to see how they continue to improve this game over time. But for now, onto Kingdom Come!

Alright, not gonna lie, I think KC-D made a bad move with limited Saves. Went to Kunesh to get the dough he owed, picked a fight with him, knocked his ass out. He gives me the key to his house to take back the stuff, but he throws a fit when I take back the axe like I'm supposed to. Runs to the guards to protest, I go to the guards to submit and accidentally kick them. Of course I get run through, dead. I'm not going to intentionally pick a fight with guards while being unarmed obviously, but now I'm reloading back to the very beginning of the game because there's no option to save. Seems kind of silly that he's turning me in for stealing back an axe he never paid my father for, especially since it's a Quest requirement. Almost feels like a Bug. I will be modding the game to allow Saving because ain't nobody got time for that shit.

You can save whenever you rest in a bed though you rarely need the potions when you get out into the open world proper

Fair. I probably wouldn't have found the whole exchange annoying if I hadn't spent 20 minutes going about town first and learning the lay of the land/controls. I did the weapons tutorial, I went through the dialogue with the German mouthing off at the pub, got the sword guard, I checked out the vendors, threw the feces and got into the fist fight there, etc. Quite a bit was done obviously, and while kicking the guard was my fault it was an accident...an accident that cost me 20 minutes of limited gaming time. I'm old, I've got kids now. If it's not autosaving periodically after major events I'm definitely going to manually save every 5 minutes. Replaying shit for unintentional mistakes isn't fun or entertaining. Oddly enough when I went through the quest the second time Kunesh didn't care that I picked up the axe after kicking his ass again. Weird.

[EDIT] Just crashed a moment ago while running to the horse after the attack. Another good reason not to disable manual Saves.

I've been playing a lot of arena/boomer shooters lately. I want a bunch of people to play Quake III Arena or Unreal Tournament 2004.

Aha do people still play those? UT was great back in the day. I remember around 2001 being a a LAN party and watching some dudes play Quake Three and they would all turn down the graphics to the lowest so basically everything was the most basic textures/polygons. Apparently this has always been meta for competitive play in that game

Got some nostalgia watching some Need for Speed Underground videos, so I grabbed a PS2 emulator and started playing. I don't know if the game is just ridiculously hard with the AI rubber banding, or I just absolutely suck, but it took me like 5 hours to beat 25 of the races. Graphics are shit compared to today (no shit), but the real problem is the screen resolution and not being able to see what the hell is coming at me at high speeds.

I've only played a few games with the PS2 emulator, but I believe you can stretch the screen and some graphics plugins will upscale and smooth graphics too. I can do a bit of that with the Raspberry Pi too, but sometimes it'll stress out the system and lag.

I got the emulator to do fullscreen, but I'll have to check out these graphics plugins. Thanks!

That's what I ended up doing. I got a hint from Lady Stephanie to check the Guard Tower for Armor and Weapons so I could sneak out of the castle. She gave me like $50 too so I could bribe the guard if I needed to. She seems lonely and fancies me, I hope we bang her later. Used the cash to buy a lockpick, then got a full set of Armor, a decent Sword and Shield, a Mace, and the Bow and Arrows. The bandits on the way to Skallig were cake with all that, although I'm not fond of sword fighting with a mouse. I suspect it's easier to do combos with a controller, might have to plug it in.

Finished the tutorial last night, then ended up starting the Theresa DLC unintentionally.

Finished the Woman's Lot DLC for KC-D. Pretty good story, it's always interesting to see events from another perspective. I tried lockpicking with the controller, I can see what you guys were talking about now. That shit sucks balls. It's definitely easier with mouse and keyboard.

There are actually four options:
Bribe the Gate Guard
Sneak attack a guard and take his armor and weapons
Unlock the guard tower chest and take the armor and weapons
Jump off the little bridge that links the motte and bailey :)

Yeah, I really wish I hadn't accidently started the DLC... I haven't gotten through it yet though I think I'm right near the end.

Idc if you end up spamming the same spells over and over and over and over and over...

This looks fun as hell:

So what you're saying is @ACamp1900 found multiple ways to fail at getting a weapon?
