Don’t blame me. Blame the Witcher 3 for giving me a side quest or contract every 7 steps I took in the game.

Not too mention one of the greatest story experience in gaming history. Where as Elden ring and BOTW have less story than most porn setups.

In fairness, Elden ring is superior to Breath of Wild which I got bored of after like 2 hours. Elden ring is overrated though.

I can not speak to Elden Ring at all... with BotW,... PREACH!!! After having played Witcher (Hell, even after just playing Elder Scrolls games) I kept waiting for the substance and it just never came....

I have owned an Oculus for about 3 months. I have done Beat Saber, I do Boxing for the workout, Super Hot was pretty dope. I have not played in about 2 weeks. Any good new games out?

Me, when I finally beat Margit the Fell Omen, only to realize that Stormveil Castle is a whole dungeon experience right behind him that offers no respite:

Me, when I take my Margit runes INTO Stormveil, and then lose them to a single knight in a dark room, over and over and over:

I actually did grab the Sword of Night and Flame, but I need to grind to get my Faith and Intelligence leveled up enough to wield it since I started out as a warrior.

Plus, I feel like it would make things kind of cheesy with where I'm at in the game, still fighting relatively low-leveled enemies. I want to grind with my Twinblade and *master* melee combat for a while before I start exploiting rune farms.

(I did exploit the boulder farm for about an hour the other day while binging Always Sunny episodes, but dumped most of it into health and dexterity to force some Git Gud into my play while I figure out what I'm ACTUALLY doing. I've noticed that I would probably be a spell caster if I restarted, rather than a warrior, just based on what seems fun and cool to do against some of the high-level endgame guys I've seen on YouTube, but I'm gonna stick this out for a while.)

If Projekt Red screws this up like they did Cyberpunk so help me God.........
Any real details yet?? I hope it goes back in time and you can create your own Witcher rather than focus on Ciri or whatever,…

The announcement says that it is "kicking off a new saga for the franchise." Not sure if that means the story or just the Unreal Engine 5 is used to create the game and push the franchise forward in that sense.

Someone please tell me what the fuck I'm supposed to do to get through Stormveil Castle lol.

I made it to the top of Rampart Tower and hit the Grace there, then through some noob luck ended up in a basement and activated a lift as a shortcut, which is cool.

I did some rooftop traversal in different places, got the Claw Talisman which is dope because I only ever do strong jump attacks with the Twinblade lol. Also found out how much I HATE the bladed talon eagles. Used a stonesword key to open up an armory room and grabbed a couple of decenct swords, then there's a balcony/ledge that overlooks a basement of some sort... but there's no way I'm supposed to be able to jump off and find a soft landing of some sort, right???

I also ended up in some other rooms where I beat a couple of knights, some other goons, the grafted scion, and some more other goons, then wrapped around to a courtyard just fucking riddled with crossbow losers. There were some steps that took me down into a rat infested room, but that is where I died and gave up for the night last night.

Am I supposed to make a suicide run through the courtyard? Am I supposed to jump off of a roof somewhere special? Am I supposed to find a secret room somewhere? Am I supposed to kill all of those rats and find something else below that wing of Stormveil? There is a chapel that clearly has a basement that I can see into, but can't actually get the floor of the chapel to give, so idk how I'm supposed to find that secret area, much less where the bosses I've seen on YouTube (Lion Guardian; Godrick) are supposed to be.

Added: I'd much rather read a convoluted description from one of you fine folks, than to watch a YouTube walkthrough that spoils everything.

I love watching videos of boss fights, but I don't want to watch an entire walkthrough that's going to spoil every detail.

But I'll take some lost grace from you people!

Sooooo.... Godrick is the boss at the end of the castle with one of the elden ring pieces you will need and once you beat him you can gain access to the next area.... or you can skip him and go around the castle to the east and then north to Linuria Lakes area if you just want to unlock more of the map. If you want to fight Godrick (easier than Margit at least for me) yes you will have to make your way north through the courtyard and there isnt an easy way to do so. So run your ass off. Id suggest finding the graces sites on a map and run to those so you dont die and lose your runes. There are LOTS of ads and minor bosses along the way so just run. You wont be able to clear the courtyard at this point.

Yeah so Godrick is not far beyond that courtyard full of the crossbow guys and dudes operating flamethrowers. There's a staircase in the back with more birds (FUCK EM), an NPC who can help with Godrick, and finally a giant who stands in your way. Thankfully there is another grace behind the giant and right next to Godrick's boss arena. You can run through pretty easliy imo and get to the grace if you don't wanna try clearing everyone out.

There are numerous runes exploits that are "available" in the game currently that will get you millions of runes quickly FYI. Once you beat the second boss you can respec at will.

Trying to hit the ball in that game is as challenging as Fromsoft’s combat, imo

I'm still not an expert at melee/defensive combat with my warrior build, but I guess nobody really is based on the report of how often everyone tells you to expect to die.

Having said that, I found a staff to use, and finally had a reason to go track down some spells to try. Why did nobody tell me how satisfying it is to use simple little glintstone spells????

I also went spelunking and found a gravity spell, but it's not as fun as hearing the glinstone chime repeatedly while you strafe enemies and slowly chip away at their health. Plus, in the few boss fights I've tried the past couple of nights, the casting speed of the gravity spells seems prohibitive in most cases.

I'll probably fast-travel back to Stormveil tonight in an attempt to find Godrick, and begin the process of learning his patterns and tells so I can die 100+ times, leave, rune farm some more, then repeat.

Magic can be your best friend but you'll be limited with it if you've started as a melee build of course. Gravity magic isn't great in most instances. There's an NPC in the basement of some ruins in Limgrave that can provide more spells if you're interested.

Ranged magic is definitely easier on the stress levels. I run a high Inteligence and mind and strength build and use the night flame right hand and meteor staff left hand. Rock sling and comet are my two favorite ranges magic spells. As you go you will find talismans which reduce for cost or increase magic strength. Also there is a spell that will increase your magic damage by up to 35%. Baller.

There is also a talsiman that reduces cast time. That plus the reduced fp talisman so you just spam spells.

Can you do an effective version of a sniper/archer in Elden Ring?? Where you sneak up on groups or enemies and just sling arrows??

I was tweaking my equipment setup last night to make sure I'm still carrying a medium load, and then realized the way your stats affect not just your armament effectiveness, but affect them differently both from slots 1-3, and based on which hand you're carrying the weapon in.

Are the big stat differences I see truly as big of a deal as the numbers make it seem?

Like, my Right Hand first slot carries ~350 damage. If I carry a staff as my primary in my right hand, is the damage debuffed if I switch it to the left in favor of carrying a sword at the same time? What do those armament numbers for handedness and slot ACTUALLY mean?
