Been listening to these guys again.

No back up dancers. Just four guys playing rock. Almost like rhere used to be music that could carry the video by itself.

Dokken. They were one of my favorite 80s hair metal bands when I was a kid. “Back for the Attack” was the 2nd tape I ever bought!

I was talking to an employee at Sam Ash and it turns out he used to be a guitar tech for them. He’s putting together a tribute band and they need a bass player. He invited me to join so I’ve been listening to their greatest hits and learning the bass lines. The only problem is I need to be able to provide backing vocals and I can’t sing, much less sing and play bass at the same time. But I’m gonna give it a shot…

Awesome. Loved Dokken back in the day. I think the “Into the Fire” LP was my favorite. It’s the one that included “It’s Not Love” among others. Also liked their power ballad (”Alone Again”) on their earlier album. Loved all the metal/hair bands from that era.

Not really my thing but it’s a famous country classic and I live like five minutes from Rosa’s… been there quite a few times now:

I can't hear this without hearing his "Big Iron" which was often played on the radio in Fallout: New Vegas. In fact, I'm fairly certain I've played a mod that adds a bunch of songs to the game, "El Paso" included. Iconic voice.

This is a good interview by Matt Pinfield w/ Matt Sorum talking about the Velvet Revolver days. Matt was fortunate enough to play w/ three awesome (but fucked up) front men: Ian Astbury, Axl Ros & Scott Weiland. Those 3 were true rock-and-roll front men but they all had demons. Luckily for Ian & Axl, they’re still alive.

I’m unaware is Astbury’s history,… I guess it’s on par?

So I learned today that Golden Earring's big hit is "Radar Love" and not "Red-Eye Love",... all these years I thought it was such a clever song,... he'll take a red-eye flight drive in the middle of the night for it,... thus, "Red-Eye Love"

Now it's not as cool,... lol

Still cool.

What I did not know was the background to the song all these years:

The song is written from the point of view of a truck driver who says he has some sort of psychic connection with his girlfriend — "radar love". He senses that she urgently wants him to be with her, and it makes him reckless. His recklessness causes him to have a fatal accident, but even in the afterlife the song's narrator and his lover still have radar love.

Can I get some country fans' opinions on this song? This girl's from Evansville and has played with a buddy of mine .

I don't really get modern country outside of Tyler Childers and some stuff by Simpson and Stapleton but this sounds like a hit to me.

* I guess I can't share it from her personal page. It's in the link. Songs called "Whiskey'd me away"

Since PedSU I’ve been on a Tool, Korn, Staind kick, with some Rage Against the Machine mixed in.

My lady asked me today to stop pacing the kitchen. I really wish I was still playing ball because I need to hit something.

Irish are about to fuck these dudes up.

If you haven’t heard these guys just start from the beginning of their first album and listen to all their stuff all day Monday.
