Went to the Decibel Magazine Metal and Beer Fest this weekend in Philadelphia. Wasn't too familiar with some of the bands (Tomb Mold, Uada to name two), but it was awesome.Big pull for my buddy and I was to see Baroness close the show. They were fantastic. If anyone is into them, they are really good live.

Took my mother in law and youngest daughter (yes, really, this was a thing that happened, lol) to see a pretty decent Chicago tribute band this past weekend. Being a child of the 80's and growing up with them being a pretty cheesy band in that era I often forget how good they were in the 70s. I've been listening to and viewing bunch of Chicago videos the past few days. That original lineup was crazy good.

I love this one, a totally lip synched play though from some French TV show, apparently Kath hated lip synching but some TV productions (perhaps even the Dick Clarke above) forced it on them, still good stuff tho. I love the 6:05 mark wehere Cetera bascially breaks off entirely to yell at Kath to "Dude, you have to fake it, GO!":

1969 Baby. Chicago Transit Authority releases their first and still best album. Question 67 & 68 (still my favorite) and Beginnings. Their second album was also released in 1969. 25 or 6 to 4 from their second album is my second favorite Chicago song).

The Chicago Transit Authority quickly filed suit after the first album was released, hence the change to just "Chicago".

On a side note in the late 90's when one of my sons was in the band in HS, their routine one year was made up of Chicago songs. Somehow Chicago found out about it and liked their routine. Chicago invited them to come to Chicago and open for them at one of their concerts.

They seemed to lose any semblance of “rock” when Kath died. It seemed to go to straight pop after that. I believe he died from accidental gun shot. He was wasted and decided to handle his guns.

I'm not a big Chicago fan, but I do enjoy some of their tunes. That being said, back when mom & pop record stores were still a thing, the owner of my local shop would put on a mix of his "favorite worst" Chicago songs as to clear out the store at closing time. He said it works 110% of the time. The few times I witnessed it in action it was shockingly effective.

Yeah, they really were. Before they became the Peter Cetera soft rock shit show, they were monsters. Hendrix once told one of the horn players, "Your horns are like one set of lungs and your guitar player is better than me." I was a huge Chicago fan in the 70's and Kath was my first guitar hero.

This isn't normally my type of music, but I discovered this song a few days ago and can't stop listening to it. Brazilian funk/jazz from '73.
