If they are from Juarez I guess that's fair... but the regional differences in Mexican food in Mexico is every bit as varied as it is here so trying to just pin point "as close to authentic Mexican as you're going to get" really depends on the starting reference point. What you get in Tijuana, on down to Jalisco is nothing like El Paso... but my understanding is it's very much in line with Chihuahua/Juarez.

The most important thing to note is that it sucks.

IIRC, they are originally from MX City with a lot of family on the gulf (Veracuz) as well. While I've eaten in El Paso/Juarez only a handful of times, I've eaten a ton of Mexican all over the Yucatan peninsula (which is very different from EP).

Indiana in DA HOUSE!!! lol I pretty much like deep fried fish in my po boys... or maybe with a mojarra frita

Also of note,... You know what Mexican spots serve with your dinner plates in El Paso as a general rule instead of rice and beans?? An American style baked potato...

#getdafqoutofherewiththis'authentic'bullshit

That's a pic of my fav Mex joint. They have a few locations around ATL. The restaurant was started by 6 brothers that grew up in SW MX, and later S Cali.... Voted best Mex in ATL multiple times. The fish tacos are simple, but most of their stuff is kinda gourmet MX.

So actually MX Cali in the house...

I've been to a few Mex joints in EP/Juarez. Never saw a baked potato.

Perhaps you should step up and stop ordering off the kiddie menu lol...

LOL... straight up baked potatoes man... multiple joints, just being real. I was really taken back like, "You're serious... you're not joking??"

This is exactly what i'm talking about... taco plate with potato and the cilantro is a bushel you deal with yourself and the onion are grilled fajita style... very different and not very good. I actually ate at this exact place in the picture like three weeks ago:

If and when you ever talk to your friends though ask them for their go tos in town... I'd love to try them as I assume they'd be pretty good.

I'll add, the two spots with the best reputations L&J's and Julios I am aware of but have not been to. My wife's family insists they are just like everywhere else and they are both on the other side of the city so I haven't yet had the chance... I am going to assume that's two spots your buddies will offer up,...

If they're from MX City and know how good the food is there and Veracruz, I'd trust their recommendations.

You should ask them watdafuk is up with the baked potatoes. seriously. that's funny AF.

Haven't talked to my bud (he's a PU grad) in a while but always check in with around holidays (I'm overdue). Will definitely ask him. I do remember one place close to his house last time I was there. I thought it was bland as hell, but I ordered some simple stuff. There was one place though that was more like a taco joint, that I thought was awesome. He and his wife's taste are very different, so I'll ask recommendations from both.

I'm in the security line at the Atlanta airport, which has replaced the Vince Lombardi rest stop on the New Jersey Turnpike as my least favorite place on Earth. I, too, appreciate being able to catch up on the digression even if I wasn't here to participate.

Gonna need to find some sweet sweet Chipotle for dinner. Real talk, it's the best value you'll ever find in an airport. They don't jack the prices up like they do at even the shitty fast food places so you can fill up for less than $10.

El Cajon Blvd. 2am. San Diego (loosely translated as "a whale's vagina")

My man ACamp knows what's up.

Just for clarity – I tend to hold mothers, not of the effing type, in high esteem

Anyone know if names will be on the back? I'm assuming yes

Yes. ESPN had a shot of the equipment staff getting ready and the names were on the back of the jerseys. But this really shouldn't have been a question... bowl contracts have always stipulated such.

Not sure if this is true.
USC and Penn St don't wear names in bowl games.
