Tomorrow starts Barks for Beers 2018. $30 gets you a free beer at 25 participating Austin area breweries. The list isn't as good as last year, but there's still more than enough to make it worth my time and money.

I’m thinking I’m cracking open something from the cellar tonight. Maybe a founders Canadians breakfast stout.

California Adventure had a great beer selection last month with some amazing local sours... went back yesterday and it was only for a festival last month... now their great craft selection is 805 and blue moon.... oh well.

Very nice! Are you opening the cellar because of the NFL draft or any particular reason?

No real reason other than rotating stuff in and I really need something good tonight. Ended up looking at the CBS and decided to open up a wake and bake from terrapin instead. It’s from 2015 and really needs drank. I’ve got a bunch that are going on two and three years that need drank. It’s really hard to open them up after you’ve managed to save them for two years lol. My oldest bottle is a Southampton publick house imperial stout from 2012.

A cheap double IPA from Rhinelander. I got a 6er for $4.89 so I figured it's worth it.

Winnemango pale ale. This is my new summer beer

California Adventure had a great beer selection last month with some amazing local sours.

Only in the last year have I decided to dive into the world of sours. Really enjoying them as I go, and I realized that I needed to start with some less sour Goses and such to build up an appreciation for the style. I definitely have had my taste and "tolerance" for them grow since the start.

Firestone has a great cherry sour... Krieky Bones or something like that, expensive but fantastic.

Was in Wales last week. Had some double dragon (felinfoel) and doom bar (sharps) both recommended. The Guinness was top shelf as well

SN and Weihenstephaner collaboration for the Hef. Pretty good stuff.

Dos Equis is fine as always.

Out at Jester King, getting a wedding present for friends. Might as well try something while I'm out here...

Colour Five is good, but not a top tier fruited beer. Song of Binding is actually really good. Don't get much of the Pinot Noir though.

Adelbert's 2015 Barrel of Love. A whiskey barrel aged Quad. Excellent and only $9 for the bottle. I have to try to get another.

I'm headed south in a few weeks. Going through Kansas City, Nashville, Louisville and Indianapolis. Any recommendations for some good beer in those spots?

May not have time to hit up a ton of breweries since we will have the kids with us but hopefully can try some local stuff at meals or maybe sneak away to a liquor store after the boys go to bed.

For Louisville: Against the Grain has good beer. Nashville's Bearded Iris supposedly has good IPAs

Chocolate milk. I've made a deal with myself that if I actually go lift, I can buy very good chocolate milk. Man this shit is good. No wonder kids love it

If you can get out to Carmel while in Indy, hit The Pint Room. Great selection of national and regional crafts.

... and the BEST candied bacon app on planet earth.

Had some Crush Cucumber Sour over the weekend... a great summer time beer, very refreshing. I'll definitely get it again. I've had other Crush sours before and did not enjoy them much, this was something different done right.

Oh dude I tried the Otra Vez w/ agave and lime. Great stuff

Says the guy who lives in uppity Austin and stays in the Cubbie burbs of Chicago.

Does thou not read what thou typeth man?

I can assure you, my place down here is not uppity. And the only reason I stay in the Cubbie burbs is because I'm too cheap to stay anywhere other than with family.

Carmel sucks ass, everyone knows it.
