I saw this the other day, but couldn't pull the trigger just yet. Let me know what you think.

SN Celebration IPA is a very good IPA. It uses fresh hops (dried but less than 7 days since picked). They don't add flavorings just good old fresh hops. So some spiciness, citrus, etc.

My God Pennsylvania bends you over on beer prices. They have a commie state run liquor thing and I just saw $22 for a twelve pack of Sam.

Well fine then, make me spend more money on beer!

Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale is literally like Christmas in a bottle. Has the piney notes associated with some good west coast IPA's along with just a hints of spices like cinnamon and pumpkin. This thread has inspired me to go buy some!

1. Holy shit that is a bad price.

2. Why the Hell were you looking at Sam Adams in PA? They have some great breweries such as Victory and Troegs.

I wasn't going to buy it, that's just my standard at home so I knew what a comparable price should be. Everything else was similarly expensive or worse.

He is clearly at a bar or he would not be able to buy a 12 pack. (Crazy Pa laws). Go to a beer distributor and get a case for 2 or 3 dollars more. Bars gouge their take out prices but you can only by a case at a distributor.

You found a rare bird in Pa. then. Within the past couple of years the state allowed grocery stores to get liquor licenses if the section that sells alcohol is a separate facility (even f it attached to the store itself). Apparently they are gouging too.

Makes sense. It was a Wegman's with a separate restaurant section.

Oklahoma has something like that, there are no liquor sections in any stores unless they are seperate from the actual store itself...

Yeah Rhode Island has dedicated liquor stores for everything including beer. Connecticut sells beer in regular grocery stores but nothing else. The unique thing about the PA setup is that the liquor stores themselves are actually owned and operated by the state.

Minnesota is the same way, only beer you can buy in gas stations or grocery stores is 3.2% beer. Only liquor stores can sell regular beer and liquor, that's it. And you can't buy it after 10 p.m. or on Sunday.

Fat Tire.

Something tastes off on this one. I've had one from this same 6 pack and it was fine but this one has a weird aftertaste.

I've got several good/great pale ales stocked at home for the next few weeks of game days, so I picked up the Guinness IPA to try for fun tonight.

It tastes like regular Guinness with a barely-registered hint of bitterness halfway through each drink. And then it finishes smooth like a normal Guinness. I like Guinness Draught, so it's not bad lol.

Bell's Winter White Ale. The bottle reads "A seasonally nuanced wheat ale that is both stylish and refreshing." I call BS on almost all counts except the "wheat" part. The beer isn't very nuanced or stylish, and not all that refreshing. All I can taste is wheat; it's like a light Hefe-weizen. Not terrible, but I certainly won't buy it again. The bottle I'm drinking is stamped with a 10/07 date, I'm assuming that's the "drink by" date. Wow, a winter beer that's out of date by the first week of October? These breweries need to get their seasonal schedules straight. Maybe it would be better in date, but who knows?

That's the bottled date, not drink by date. Beer usually has around a 3-6 month shelf date, so if that was the case that beer would have been made anywhere from April-July.

Ya Bell's put the "bottle date" on their beers.

I have a a 4-pack from a local brewery of a mango IPA called The Gadget. Have not tried a beer from the brewery which opened about a year ago and just started limited distribution to liquor stores. The 4-pack fad has officially pissed me off. Don't try selling 4-packs for the same price as a 6. Just fucking sell 6 packs!! 4-packs are a way to gouge you.

Has anyone ever tried the Anchor Christmas beer? Im not sure they distribute it in Indiana or atlas I have never seen it.

I was thinking that might be the case after I posted, but was too lazy to edit. It'd be nice if more breweries put words to the effect of "bottled on" or "drink by" along with the date so there's no ambiguity It makes sense that a winter beer was bottled in October, but given how increasingly early seasonal beer gets released, who knows anymore.

Victory and Dogfish are big culprits of the 4 pack-priced-like-a-6-pack crime. It sucks because I really like most of Victory's beer, but I'll pass them over a good amount of time and go for another brewery's 6 pack.
