Tried a Stella Artois for the first time last night, the fuck kinda person makes a taller bottle and puts less beer in it.

Also had Foster's for the first time. Not bad.

Had some Guinness which I'm pretty meh about. I much prefer Bell's Porter which I also had plenty of.

Had some Bud Light at the stage bar.

Tried some Midas Touch beer or something like that.

Also had a shot of Rum Chotta.

Fun night with the family.

Lagunitas new dog town pale ale, reminds me of a better rolling rock. Thinking about a night cap of eagle rare bourbon.

I got a chance to go to their brewery in California back in the summer. Awesome people, and they have some spectacular beer.

Did you visit any other breweries in the the area such as Russian River or Bear Republic?

Damn metric system. Why can't the rest of the world just be like the USA?

I did some legal work for a buddy of mine gratis, so he gave me a bottle of Macallan 17 Fine Oak. I don't have much taste for Scotch, but this stuff is amazingly good-- salted caramel, brown sugar, clove, and honey. Full-bodied with a very long finish.

Not sure I'd ever spend $150+ on a Scotch, but this one might be worth it.

On a positive note it seems that there is a scotch for everyone (well for most people).
On a negative note I remember when I could buy that bottle for $80, five years ago or so. I really hate how fast scotch prices have risen in the past few years. :soapbox:

the extra 'e' is starting to make sense.....best I've ever had was a bottle of Mac 30....simply sublime. The Japanese are making some very interesting bottles these days as well.

I'm drinking an Iron Fist Uprising Tripel IPA and longing for sleep at the moment....

I was at a bar with some co-workers and one of them was drinking a beer that smelled, no kidding, just like Paas, the Easter Egg coloration stuff. I can't remember what it was offhand, a high abv type. Not terrible beer, despite the smell. A bit too much vinegar taste to be enjoyable.

Sierra Nevada Harvest Wild Hop Neomexicanus.

Honey dew, cantaloupe, some citrus, and lots of dank hops. Some light malt but it is mostly in the background.

Live Oak Hefe-Weizen and then switched to Lagunitas IPA, newly installed. Yummy stuff.

I tried DuClaw Colossus last night. 17%abv. Just terrible. I can't remember the last time I just gave up on a beer, especially one that cost me $10. I didn't even get half way through.

That sucks. High Alcohol beers can be really rough if they aren't heavy enough to cover the alcohol.

Signatory Port Ellen 1979 23yo (Fucking cork broke, had to implement emergency procedures to save it, filter it through a strainer and put it into a new bottle).

pkt - how do you feel about Angel's Envy? At its price point, there is so much I know is good. Hesitant to try a (relative) newcomer in that bracket.

I personally don't really enjoy it (damn it) but there are plenty of people that I know that recommend it (both on here and amongst my whisk(e)y drinking friends. I find it overrated and overpriced and I get it for $36. I have heard that it is much more expensive in the NE.

What bourbons do you enjoy?

Basil Hayden's and Blanton's are go-tos. Also enjoy Woodford, Bookers. If I can find it cheap (20-25), I love Buffalo Trace and Elmer T. My first foray into bourbon was Rebel Yell (lol), so if I find Rebel Reserve I grab it for sentimentality reasons. I also find Eagle Rare and Jeffersons decent for the price. Been lucky enough to find to Van Winkles for cost (10 yr and 12 yr Lot B, $50/each).

I tried regular 4 Roses for the first time. A little rough, and a bit too much burn (funny, since it's only 80 proof). Could use a little more time in the barrel, IMO. That will be my emergency bottle for when I get off work and all the liquor stores are closed.
