I'll start with this: Bud light is not a beer. It is a sad, carbonated soft drink infused with alcohol. It has vile hints of poorly processed rice. Wait. Did I say "hints?" Nay. Both Bud and Bud light should be prosecuted for abuse of rice, which can play an exquisite role in an alcoholic beverage.

My son gave me a bottle of Milk Stout Nitro from Left Hand Brewing Co. after a Thanksgiving dinner with his girlfriend's family. If I could afford it, at the volume of beer I consume, it would be my everyday brew. An obvious payoff. Manning can't be that taste bud dead ... unless blows to the head have taken a toll on his taste bud receptors to "oh, that's gooood brain receptors."

Reps for a beautiful post.

The Nitro Milk Stout is actually silky. I default to a good IPA, but it's very, very good.

That said, I've generally been disappointed with most other Left Hand beers. I've been to the brewery and all but the Milk Stout are pretty nondescript.

GITF prepare to be jealous-

Working on my second 3F Gumballhead at Bruno's in New Carlisle

Yeah well Steelhead was supposed to bring me back some Zombie Dust and then snow happened and he drank it.

One of my buddies said one of the liquor stores in nobles vile always has Gumballhead, they just keep it in the back and you can only get it by request. I have yet to get over there but he always gets some when he asks.

I'm still working on getting some more, and will keep you in mind when the next shipment arrives. What place in NVille? I may go up there tonight if they have some.

I posted earlier on this, having had my first ones at the Navy game, given at a tailgate by a friend from Chicago. It's a pale ale by Three Floyds brewery in Munster, IN. God bless them, because it was a really good beer.

IPA by Three Floyds. It used to be called "Cenotaph," and was much easier to acquire (you had a 2% chance) then. The whole zombie fad kind of gave the beer mythic status.

Fiending for a Gumballhead after visiting this thread, I went looking. The snow is coming back, and the roads are a mess right now. Gave up after two stops.

Came home with something I've never seen called "Yellow Dwarf" from a brewery called Quaffon. It's an American Pale Wheat Ale, and has hints of the robust flavor that makes me salivate thinking about a Gumballhead.

All in all, I'd call it a MUCH weaker, watered down, poor man's version of GBH, even though the irony is it was $11.00 for a 4 pack.

That's my store GITF, I always ask every time I'm in there but they never have it. I'll have to press them on it...

Haha well he kind of alluded to the fact that you might have to be a regular to get it. Maybe you have to bribe them. They might only get a few each time and if people know about it then I doubt it lasts long.

I can be very convincing:

*They probably get two cases at a time, which seems to be the 3F way.

Probably the best IPA I have had is from Arbor Brewery, it is called Mr. Delicious. Great IPA taste with a malty finish. If you can find it is a must try. Also I got a Stone brewing- Drink by 2-14-14. Very delicious. I was told it is hard to find.

Had a Sam Adams Rebel IPA earlier today. They describe it as West Coast style, which is maybe a stretch. Only 45 IBUs, but a pretty decent overall IPA finish.

Frankly, it might be my favorite Sam Adams beer.

Dogfish Head Miles Davis' Bitches Brew. I really enjoy this beer, probably my favorite from DFH.

1792 bourbon. Still preferring makers

You must have a strong preference for wheated bourbon then. Try W.L. Weller 12y; it blows the doors off of MM.

I had the misfortune of visiting my wife's family in Wisconsin for 6 days over New Years. Sub-zero temperatures trapped me in-doors with my three rambunctious boys for the entire time. The silver lining? I got to check a bunch of New Glarus beers off my list:

Fat Squirrel - A solid brown ale. I enjoy the style, and would definitely drink this again.

Moon Man - An excellent pale ale. Hop-forward without pushing the IBUs too high. Not a style I usually reach for, but would drink again.

Spotted Cow - This beer gets a ton of hype, but it didn't do anything for me. Would be a good lawn-mowing beer, but it's not one I'll be reaching for again.

Thumbprint Imperial Weizen - Good beer, but disappointed me. Was really hoping for a traditional German-style Weizenbock, which it's not (the "Imperial" in the name should have tipped me off). If you like hoppy wheat, definitely give this a try.

Thumbprint Winter Warmer - Great beer, probably my favorite of the ones I tried (no surprise as this was the most seasonally appropriate beer for the circumstances I was drinking under).

Two Women Lager - Meh. Average pilsener. Though I don't like pale lagers as a rule, so take this with a grain of salt.

Uff-da - Another great beer. Probably my 2nd favorite of this bunch.

Dancing Man Wheat, Staghorn Oktoberfest and Wisconsin Belgian Red are the only bottles that continue to elude me.
