this is type of game where USC players rally around each other and throw on us and throw often.. Before the season and now it still is the game that scares me most

Game time temp will be in the 40s with possible showers. That should help ND

I think U$C hangs tough at first, but ND pulls away toward the end. High scoring game though.

ND 38-26

This game comes down to three things....1) Will ND be able to run the ball with success consistently 2) Can ND avoid losing the TO battle 3) Can ND get enough stops on defense.

Personally, I think the TO battle will be a push. ND will have success running the ball, but it will be in spurts, which will mean it will be up to Kizer to ensure ND can have sustained drives. ND will score points, but will it be enough? I personally am skeptical that BVG will play conservatively, which is what he should do to protect his S and CB's. Kessler will have a huge game and Adoree has two long TD's that will remind everyone of Reggie Bush as SC wins by 6.

I made my original prediction in the poll before all the shit went down with Sark and before USC started piling up the injuries.

So I actually don't think we lose this game anymore. Rather, I think it would be inexcusable to lose this game. Before this week I thought the score would be USC 37 ND 31 but my final prediction is ND 34 USC 26.

Won't be surprised if we lose by 10+ if USC comes out motivated and commits to throwing the ball. But I think there are too many unknowns to make that prediction.

Notre Dame hasn't beaten SC by more than two scores at home since the 'Decade of Dominance'... think about that for a second... can you say 'due'??

Week 7 Prediction Poll (USC @ ND)

USC 31 ND 17. This game reeks of 2011 IMO. Smith will replace Woods as the guy who gives us fits all game.

Before the Sark thing hit I thought Navy would beat us, as they so often do, a week after we played them... I still think that'll be a factor...

with the coaching thing? I call it a coin flip...

ND 27-USC 23. Going to be a tight game time for the secondary to show up.

Touchdowns from CJ Sanders, Alize Jones, and Corey Robinson.
Day knocks Kessler out of the game, Ronald Jones fubbles a couple, Yoonerbomber adds a FG as time expires just because, and the Irish blank USC 24-0.

Knock 'em around and knock 'em up in ya.

All the guys at SI seem to think ND will win:

First of all, ND loses this game because ACAMP cursed the team right before the Clemson game. It is all his fault.

Second, I can see how ND wins this game. USC comes out and makes mistakes that ND capitalizes on... ND gets up a couple TDs and USC quits in the cold.

With that being said, the Sark firing (plus the extra prep time to deal with it) was a worst case scenario for ND. There is no way USC is worse off now than with a hypothetically hammered buffoon of a coach roaming the sideline. If you have been following the goings on this week, not only was there the USC 30-for-30 but there was the circling the proverbial wagons from everyone even tangentially involved with the program. From the school president to the students to old ass USC alums that turned out in droves to give speeches to players at today's practice. There is a 100% chance that USC will be the most focused and dialed in that they have been all year when they step on the field Saturday night. And if they get any early momentum, they are going to ride it as long as they can... likely to a W.

I expect DeShone Kizer's late passes to get picked off by their DBs, Will Fuller to drop passes in the cold, and us to lose the battle up front running the ball with Martin/Nelson banged up. USC isn't good at defense but they do have athletes... athletes that will cause serious issues for stare-down-the-receiver-the-entire-play style passing attacks, and slow developing running plays.

On defense, it all comes down to the corners. Our coverage game plan is just terrible for this type of offense. Off-man coverage -- in general -- I just hate relative to the alternatives, and it's especially bad against guys like Juju and Adoree. So if we don't get pressure, expect UVA level bad x100... on top of that, their running game is very solid so we can't just sell-out against the pass.

All things considered I think USC starts fast and takes the crowd out of the game. After getting down 17-0, ND shows some life and enter halftime trailing something like 17-7. USC puts up two more TDs after half and the rout is on... media talks about them banding together and how "inspiring" it is. Final score something like 38-17. DeShone Kizer turns it over 3 times and looks utterly dreadful, and a QB controversy starts brewing heading into the Temple game.

Lax... you will always be cooler than ACamp.

On a side note...I am trying to be positive but this has a potential level of failure = EPIC if the defense can't get pressure on Kessler.

My hopes are very low that BVG can get anything to work.

Very, very true.

Me neither.

And honestly, if we lose to USC, BK needs to be replaced. Honestly, ND should be undefeated and #4 in the country right now, if not for the absolutely craptastic idea of going for 2 so damn early in the CLEMSON game; Navy stayed with us as long as UMASS did; and literally the best teams left on our schedule are STAN and effing Temple!!

We lose this game and Irish fans should be irate.
