A Clemson blog wrote about how Clemson's D is so much better than ND's, based on stats. It never once mentioned that the numbers were against 2 FCS teams and 1-3 Louisville.

Kizer displays composure under pressure.
ND OL gradually wears down Clemson D front.
DL takes advantage of new Clemson center.

ND pulls ahead by 2 TDs, holds off Clemson late.

ND 28-24

Finally, some swagger. If it backfires and we get stomped, I'll eat crow.

72?!?!?!? We couldn't score 50 on Virginia and their sorry D but we are putting up 72 on Clemson....

We house the opening kickoff and then turn them over to go up 21-0 in the first quarter. They come out and get 7 first drive of 2nd qtr to tighten things up. We hit a couple long balls and a safety to go up 44-7 at the half. They come out and score 3 after the half. Then it's just a matter of 4 more touchdowns for us (2 on the ground for wimbush, one for Alize, and one for ESB).

sounds pretty doable to me.

I like ND's line on offense for sure. But I got a feeling Dabo is going to cheat up in the box and make DK have to throw the ball. I think the Clemson DBs will be in man a lot so DK - and BK - need to take advantage of that when they can. Just take what they give you and move the chains.

Man up on Fuller, I would love to see that.

I hope so and would love to see man coverage on our WR's. Fuller will have a big game as will Alize Jones. I am predicting he will break out.

I think ND can control the LOS on offense and get a solid push. Prosise will run for about 115-130 hard yards.

My worry is our DB's. Our Dline will get pressure but it wont matter if our DB's dont hold up.

I couldn't break my mold, a la ACamp-esque.

So I picked a Clemson win.

But I'm starting to believe. 2012-ish. Holy shit.

I was checking out the squad and they are very small up the middle. Their line backers are tiny.

We can't get "pass happy" if we fall a little bit behind early. Give the OLine the time to impose their will. Need the more "rucks and mauls" rugby style. Oh, and our CB's will shine this game...it's time.

I think ND will win by less than 2 TD's....then we will hear how much Clemson was overrated and not that of an impressive victory.

I think this is a game where we will really miss Zaire.... They are going to load the box and force Kizer to throw to beat them. I don't think he is up to the task in a hostile environment.. Clemson 24- ND 14

enough of this ban material...

I really think loading the box will just give ND big plays either way... DZ can hit a deep one to Fuller and our O Line can blow up even a stacked box enough to spring CJ more than once...

Here's my take on this game after watching a lot of Clemson.

- Wofford and Appalachian St told us very little besides the fact that Clemson has better athletes than those awful programs.

- The Louisville game was on a short week and they were ugly for a large part of it.

- Watson is very accurate but threw 2 picks under pressure at UL.. He gets rattled with chaos. He rarely keeps the ball on zone reads and looks for the seam route constantly.

- This new OC loves quick WR screens too and Artavus Scott is very shifty with the ball. I see Clemson trying what UMASS did and even tossing in trick play or two because at least one is a gimme against us.

- Clemson's front 7 are basically all new names but their secondary is experienced and pretty damn good. They're going to load the box and force CJ out of the game plan until Kizer proves he can punish them.. Throwing short to a correcting Will Fuller probably won't be as successful this night. He's going to have to lead our WRs, be decisive and not halt drives with throws into the ground.

-Boulware, Kearse, Alexander are all solid players and will be all over the field.

- The atmosphere at this game is going to be unreal... I'm not kidding. Dabo and the leaders of this team are already taking the "us against the world", " no one expects us to win this game " mentality and the campus and town are buying in. The buzz is loud. “Most people expect us to lose, but we are just going to come out with a mentality that we got to get this job done, this is a win that we need to jump start this season,” Dodd said.

Kearse had this to say after Fuller tweeted that what NDs offense was going to do to Clemson would be SAVAGE.. “They’re getting a bit chippy, they’re talking a lot, all through the media and things like that so I’ll just say, I hope the ref lets us play football,” Kearse said. “It’s going to be a chippy game, I’m definitely going to be chippy so they can expect that from me, they can expect some trash talk and they can expect all that.”

- Our boys better keep their cool because Clemson will be riding so high we'll probably be able to steal some first downs with late hits or etc..

- After watching both teams there is no doubt we are superior in talent but we need Kizer to have his head on right and play a smart game. There will be yards to take just take them and move the chains. Clemson will not see an OL this deep, talented and aggressive all season

Get out of the first quarter alive when the atmosphere will be insane.. Quiet the crowd and wear their D down while pressuring Watson into mistakes..

Last Saturday midway through the second quarter against UMASS I screamed "same ol fukcing Notre Dame!!" and then they shifted into the gear I haven't seen since Kelly took the job. They squashed the bug. This is not the same Notre Dame.

Fukc the tigers and their rock.

What gives me the most hope is what Georgia did to them last year. Watch these highlights:
<iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/qUyAHMqi5gs?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Then realize that the Clemson defense you're seeing getting run over is MUCH better than this current crop of players. If we win the game, it'll be because our offensive line dominates and our defense doesn't get burned.

Do they not see the lines for the game? I get wanting to pump up the team, but this is a joke.

31-24 ND our defense sets the tone but stopping the run game. Their Qb gets nervous but we win the turnover battle 3-1.

This. I'm starting to think that one of these teams is going to completely collapse... not sure which but this just doesn't feel like a game where both teams come out strong.

Won't be the Irish. BK doesn't let these guys get too high or too low. If there was an opportunity to fold, the UVA game was it. They didn't. Irish use the crowd and noise early in the game for their own motivation. They get up early and play with the lead throughout the game.

The more I think about it...the more I'm expecting a solid and dominate performance from our team. Seeing the tweet about the number of 4 and 5 star players in our two deep validated what I had been feeling: that for the first time since Holtz left the building we're rolling into a big time program's house as the more physical, more talented, deeper, and overall better team.

This in now way guarantees victory, but we are the bigger and stronger team. We will set the tempo of this game. I know they have gifted perimeter and skill position players...but so do we. I think we are built to win a number of ways. We can win a shootout and we can win in defensive slug fest.

Now none of this means anything if we don't come ready to play. If we come out flat or intimidated Clemson is talented enough to make this a long night for us. If we come out intimidated though it would break from the norm under BK. We usually come ready to ball out in road games under the lights.

reading this got me thinking--this game actually reminds me more of 2012 at MSU than it does 2012 at Oklahoma. I'll take either result though.

Irish winners by 8-13. I really like the offensive lines ability to open running lanes and Prosise is a big body to bring down. It's always good to walk into enemy territory with a strong, grind it out running game. Hopefully a successful running game and a long drive or two to open up can quiet the undoubtedly electric atmosphere there. I'm concerned about Kizer with the noise and getting in and out of the right plays but think we get significant pressure from the DL. I've watched a few Clemson games thus far and their oline looks overmatched more than I think it should. As long as we keep contain on Watson and make him pass we've got a better than average shot at walking out with a W. Hold the line.

This I want to see. It will be a way for this line and CJ to prove they are legit... or not.

I'm on the legit side now, I really think they can pound Clemson into submission the way we did with Miami.

Clemson is my defense in my fantasy football team and they are a damn good defense.

I watched the Clemson vs. Louisville game and Clemson stacked their front 7.

Louisville did a good job running the ball by showing different formations in their backfield.

However I don't think that running the ball kept Louisville in the game.

Louisville's QB hung in the pocket took some late shots (got a few personal fouls) and also took chances with the deep ball.

If we can get the passing game going I really like our chances and this quote from BK off of rivals today:

BlueandGold.com @BGInews

Kelly said he likes to throw the ball in the rain “because you know where you’re going.” Said the ideal situation is to maintain balance.

I am unimpressed by Clemson and their joke of a schedule so far. The ND OL should be a painful shock to them. CJ dishes some pain and Irish win 34-21.
