In your definition of "addiction", you can be addicted to chocolate, mountain dew and exercise. There is literally no chemical in marijuana that causes those symptoms. I would agree that "being able to control it" would be something that differentiates the two. Lets take two examples, a) weed and b) alcohol. A heavy marijuana user could stop tomorrow and just be bored. An alcoholic would actually have physical pain and/or illness.

I'm just saying that people use the word "addiction" incorrectly. Here are the definitions:

Addiction - the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.

Habit - an acquired behavior pattern regularly followed until it has become almost involuntary.

Which one does weed fall into?

Your answer. (in this particular case, if he isn't full of shit)

So psychologically he cannot stop? Even he didn't say that.

"Singleton was then admitted for a month long stay at an inpatient rehabilitation center.

"I knew I had a problem," he said. "Even after I failed the second drug test, I couldn't stop smoking weed. It was really bad. Me going there was definitely the best move."

Sounds pretty psychological to me.

He never said that psychologically had an uncontrollable urge to smoke. He said that he couldn't stop. Like how one can't stop themselves from eating spicy food.

Regardless. My opinion is above. I'm not going to keep regurgitating my same point over and over again. Under your suggested definition of addiction, literally every single thing on the planet is addictive.

If it gets to a point where I have to stop eating spicy foods, just pull the damn plug boys...

On another note, it just now hit me who Jeb. Springfield is... I must have been high to miss that one.

I'm amazed that it's illegal for a grown adult to light a piece of dried foliage on fire and breath in the smoke.

In reading the article, he states, "They would turn off the lights at 11:30, and I would just sit there and stare at the ceiling because I couldn't go to sleep," he said. "My heart was beating too fast. I would get night sweats. It was bad.

It appears to be, in my not-fully-informed layman's opinion that what he was experiencing was anxiety, for whatever reason. Alcohol, pot or Ambien™ might be interchangeable to deal with the immediate symptoms.

I can understand his use of marijuana to induce sleep. That's why I stopped smoking it late in my junior year in college. I missed a lot of spirited conversation and good fun with friends because I was "sawing logs" on the couch rather than participating.

Quitting was no problem. I was never a daily toker. I may have tossed and turned on occasion at night, but that was normal and passed.

It was never a physical or psychological need. It was a choice.

I have not smoked marijuana in a long time but I'm pro-legalization. It was my preferred method of altering my mind, never been a big drinker. Don't get me wrong, if we're at a nice restaurant and everyone is getting a drink, I'll have a Basil Haydens (whiskey for the uninitiated) but I never drink sitting at home.

If marijuana were legal, I'd definitely use it judiciously on weekends. Probably in an edible form because I don't want to ruin my lungs, or maybe with a vaporizer if they release test studies showing that it doesn't harm the old bronchioles.

Legalize it, regulate it's use & tax it (preferably like Colorado so the first portion is skimmed off the top and given to schools). I lived in Colorado up until this last year and the marijuana users were no longer relegated to this collective rogue identity that seems to befall the majority of users.

Many of them were hard workers, active in the community and did not wear apparel with marijuana-themed emblems all over them.

Marijuana is a mild, mind-altering drug. Appears to me more mild than alcohol considering the number of catastrophic events that occur while people have been drinking.

I look for Hostess Brands to relocate to Colorado. Could you imagine a Hostess thrift shop next to every weed shop? They never would have had to go bankrupt in the first place!

I heard Colorado's expected revenue from pot tax was over $130 million for 2014 has moved legalization bills up for consideration in 20+ states. I will also be curious to see how much applications to Colorado colleges increase this year.

California not moving on it is just dumb at this point... we basically have it now anyway, stop pretending...

exhibit A as to why you don't have your citizens write the state constitution through all these lame propositions.

And what's odd is Governor Moonbeam is the one putting up the fight, among others. Bad trip, Jerry?

Snow ball is rolling. Unfortunately SC and probably NC too will refuse to despite any logical reason otherwise. It could be a massive cash crop here.

Tylenol Kush has a interesting ring to it.

Not as cool as Hippy Crippler but it will do.

I saw the Medicinal Fried Chicken of South Park… you go to the old KFC, buy your “Blue Moon Rising” and go right to the nearest stop light and taunt the traffic cop whilst you burn one…

So maybe put a Twinkie shop a block from every weed store??
