we should have had TB in for way longer. We should have hung 50 on them.

I love BK. I really do. But he has a weird thing about being "nice" to the opposing team when its obvious we can box their ears together and crush their spirit.

its weird.

Agree. I said it in the game thread - why does Kelly insist on looking as unimpressive as possible in games like these?

On the other hand, it was an easy win against a 6-3 team.

I’m with you. I dont hate BK. After some shaky times, he’s really built us a solid program, and after the willingham/weis years….. But the guy will never with a national title. Never. He doesn’t have the guts to crush people. And that’s what separates champions.

Pretty sure it's qb play and defense. Not one or the other, both. We've never had both.

Good, solid win. Could we have hung 40, of course. But the outcome never was in doubt and the D stepped up all game. Big shoutout to Bo and Armstrong for great performances.

OL, unfortunately, I think took a step back. Seemed like just about all of KW’s yards came after contact. He cleans up a lot of their mistakes.

Re: sacks - thought I counted 8, LAX says 7, and CBSSports is showing 6. Regardless of total, was nice seeing the boys getting after the QB.

All and all, we’ll take a solid 25 point win over a 6-3 team who still could be in the ACC Championship Game. Onward and upward to GT.

The Lorenzo Styles TD that got nullified was ridiculous. 4 or 5 UVA players were ahead of him and had an angle and he just completely blew by everybody. Need to get him the ball anyway possible.

This is what I struggle with. He is totally different and I don’t know why. When he was at GVSU he never stepped off the gas. Had a friend that played for him and they beat Valparaiso 99-0. I know it’s a long time ago, but we need that BK attitude.

He's going to be what we hoped Lenzy was and Tyree kinda is.

Really impressed with how our boys handled the question of, ‘wtf is a cavalier?!’

it didn’t seem to phase them at all…

A couple of thoughts:

Could care less about the margin of victory. Virginia had no chance without their QB. It illustrates how much a difference maker a dynamic QB can be to a team with average personnel. A few thoughts:

1. Someone else mentioned that coaches are developing Buchner as a gimmick option to the offense instead of developing him as a potential starter. I agree. No excuse not to open the offense at the end of the game. Putting on my tinfoil hat. It almost seems like Kelly doesn't want a QB controversy. Coan is his guy and until the team is unable to carry Coan, then and only then will he bring in Buchner/Pine. When they naturally struggle given the lack of experience/development, Kelly can claim i told you so. If someone else has a better theory, I would love to hear it.

2. Defense played well, but they were playing a true freshman. At least there wasn't blown assignments. Big concern is the pass rush. Yes there was seven sacks, but the majority of them were coverage sacks. Now the question is was it the coverage or a freshman QB not knowing his progressions. I think a little of both. Foskey has disappeared. Is it how they are playing him or an injury but he is not playing with the same level of intensity.

Nice win. GTech is a scary opponent. They play well when motivated.

and other teams like Baylor blow sandwich spots and lose to TCU letting them torch your D and now gonna have regret because could still be competing for a playoff spot. Consistency is not to be dismissed. Most of CFB lack it.

I would buy that POV if we brought that consistency to the Cincy game which is our albatross around our playoff neck at this point. If we win that game at home we wouldn’t need ANY style points to have a chance to be in the playoffs. We would currently be #2 and a win would be a win. Due to that lack of consistency at home no less we are in need of some style points. Watch Oklahoma state jump us and control their destiny and further reduce our chances to get in. Killer instinct is needed not run the clock out and survive.

That’s fair. I think the type of floor performance ho hum ND won was on display last night that we have somewhat grown accustomed to. Week 1-5 ND did not show the consistency I think can be valued and it did bite them once. If we get Week 11 unimpressive but consistent ND we are likely 12-0 with no style points needed or added.

Holy Crap! I couldn’t have conveyed the situation any better! It’s as if Kelly didn’t want TB to score on that last drive as a bunch of us would be pointing to how easily TB made that drive look. Did we even have a third down? Maybe one. Buchner should have played to start the second half and maybe a couple of Pyne drives to end the game.

We scored ONE TD against one of the worst D’s we will see all year! We are loaded with weapons and all Coan can do is throw dinks and doinks. He just doesn’t do enough with the time and tools he has at his disposal. He could make more plays with his feet but he does not like to get or take a hit even at 6’5” 230. He is holding us back. I am convinced we are 12-0 without him.

With an 11-1 finish looking highly probably I just laugh at all the hate I've seen on the board this season.

Kelly likely deserves a statue regardless if he ever wins a Natty. All time ND wins, 4 straight 10+ win season (never been done) 3 big time appearances (1 Natty 2 playoff). Unrelated to statue discussion, I also saw 23 straight ACC wins. Screw ur conf needed talk.

Kyren Sanders Williams- one of the more enjoyable players to watch on TV or that I've seen in person.

Hell of a first start at safety for Henderson.

Styles gives me some CJ Procise vibes, but I don't see any move to RB in his future. I'll call it now. We got the better Styles.

Poor Bertrand tackling in space lol

23 straight ACC wins and 20+ of those teams probably had a bye before facing us!
CBK!!!

Offense could have and should have had another 21 points but Kelly wasn’t interested.

Kelly believes in not embarrassing other teams. I can respect that, but it can bite you in the ass when you stop early (FSU this year).
We should've been aggressive before the half and then played 12 the entire second half and called it "developing" players.

We’ve only played 10 games btw so 12-0 is literally impossible.

how we so soon forget the VT game. You honestly say we win without Coan there? How about FSU?

Coan is far from perfect , is what he is and it took a few weeks for the coaches to figure that out. Get the ball out quick….and we have now moved the ball.

I’m more worried about Buchner than Coan personally. Coan’s a bridge and Tyler hasn’t thrown the ball very well when given the opportunity. I’m actually a little scared about what happens when he gets the ball next year.

Imo, they need to do the 2012 quarterback plan. Coan goes to the bench and comes in if TB12 struggles.

We need a Jimmy Clausen type talent at QB. When we get that, along with how we’ve been recruiting, you’ll have your National title.

Let’s not over complicated this.

Nice win, Buchner and the young guns are looking really good, defense did what they were supposed to do and dominated. Onto GT!

I said after the first game he got some touches. More Styles please!

I knew the defense would be better without Kyle Hamilton.

disagree. There is nothing, nada, zero in Kelly’s history here that suggests having a “better” QB would increase chances of winning a natty. He’s had some top talent, and wasted it. I’m positive that if we had Peyton Manning, Kelly still couldn’t win a national title. He’s not capable.

Not saying it’s a guarantee but a 5 star NFL first round prospect is the natural next step in this program’s procession. That’s how Clemson got over the hill. Now our turn.

Game Recap: We played down to the level of our opposition, yet again. Luckily, we have better athletes. They shit the bed. We won.

Theres no luck about it.

I agree we should have hung more points on em but come on. If their QB was in the game we would have hung 55 on em.

It wasn't luck. BK has a weird affinity for playing nice when a team is clearly outmatched. Its annoying, but we were not "lucky" by any means.

edit: Not to mention we were down 4 captains and had 13 or so guys affected by the flu. It wasn't luck at all. No offense, but i find that silly.

Are we giving up on Buchner already? I think he’s going to be really good.

I’m all in on TB…….until I’m not. Baptism by fire next year against OSU. I will say the OSU D doesn’t scare me like GA would.

QB under Kelly has been very very average at best. I think they are setting the team back already for next year with TB. He needed the game time experience due to him not having the 2020 season. He as the ability. He gives the team so many more options than Coan could dream about.

Since Rees will be staying i think they need to go find a real good QB coach to develop they recruits. If not it'll be the same story with every QB.
