So during the season, when some of us said we wanted Max to play more, and were told to stuff it because he wasn't, therefore Farley was clearly the best option, weren't actually wrong? At least according to BK?

We need to give ourselves as fans a bit more credit in our analysis :).

That's not according to BK though, to be fair. That is hearsay. It is one beat writer's thoughts, insinuations or second hand info. Could be right, but could also be off. I think BK definitely wanted Redfield to play more, but in deferring to Diaco (if that is what happened), he is obviously trusting his judgement, and thus it wasn't a butting of heads so much as wishing one outcome but trusting the DC in his judgement that the said outcome wasn't best for the team yet.

Eric Hanson talks to BK quite often. And Jack, for that matter. Unless he's simply making it up, he often mentions when he talks to them for credibility in his chats.

I think Hanson is connected enough to know BK's thoughts on Redfield's PT since it was such a hot topic last year.

I know he made a prediction on field turf last week, based on his conversation with Swarbrick.

Not knocking his credibility. Just saying that stating "I think one of BK's..." is not Gospel, nor does it mean as fact that BK wanted one thing, Diaco wanted another, and they butted heads about it.

Diaco on Farley. At least Floyd could play at a high level despite being targeted by TR.

One of my LOL moments on IE was when one poster in 2011 randomly asked 'Do you think in class Tommy just startes at Floyd the whole period?'.

The reality is that if BK cared that much... he would have made it happen. Diaco wasn't going to tell BK what to do. I see it like you're saying. They may have disagreed with it, but it's not like Diaco was blatanly disregarding the HC's wishes.

Exactly.

So we cannot give ourselves credit for thinking along the lines of BK in regards to Farley/Redfield, because he obviously didn't feel strong enough to overrule Diaco?

Rats!

You all have forgot about one thing. Bobby Elliott was the safeties coach. I am sure he was a player, and would have been consulted about his freshman's development.

But I think Kelly has this idea of respect and loyalty. And this idea of delegating with responsibility. I saw one of his business seminars. For his system of conscious competence to work it would be very hard for him to overrule one of his coordinators. In fact, I think one of the reasons he has the track record he does, is that he is willing to go to the mats for his assistants.

Agree.......Typically the HC will defer to his coaches unless he sees some overriding evidence that contradicts what the assistants are telling him. When a HC overrules the staff all the time, their credibility goes out the window and then you have more problems.

BK was just on ESPN.
Said the following about BVG.

-BK's first hire at GVS
-Shared the same philosophy
-Aggressive minded like BK

Also made it point to say EG was not "as experienced" as the public portrays.

He's downplaying it. Golson is gonna tear it up. He'll finish 3rd in the Heisman voting, along with 2nd and 1st.....

Heisman is becoming a joke. At the rate it's going, it's going to be the official Fulmer Award.

Am I missing something here?

I was just talking about the Heisman in general, nothing against Golson. The "integrity" part of the award has been somewhat lost on several of the recent winners. It's becoming tarnished imo. Besides, for years the award hasn't been going to the most deserving player. It's becoming a popularity award driven by the talking heads.

My bad. I realized what I was missing. I somehow missed that Steelhead mentioned the Heisman in the post immediately prior to yours. I couldn't figure out why you were talking about the Heisman. Mea culpa

I didn't know too much about BVG but after watching Spring Practice segments
and various interviews,I really like this guys attitude. He seems like a fierce
competitor that will get the best out of the D. Kelly knows him from way back
and they have the same mindset. Can't wait to see this D in action.

It's just being honest. Honestly the media kinda makes it seem like he carried Notre Dame on his back for the entire 2012 season.

They pointed out that he was out with injury for a spell, and that he also struggled and had to be pulled from a few games..... Motivation, or honesty, or both,,,,, doesn't matter. I do believe the best QB will be on the field. Thinking we may seem two this year.

10 mil vbucks says Golson is the only QB we see this year, barring injury.

That was fucking dumb, what was i thinking lol.

Don't feel bad. If our offense performs as poorly as it has been...they may never be able to pull Golson from the field  Then again, if he performs poorly, he could just get yanked again till he settles down.
