Looking to leave the country for the first time in 8 years. Anyone have any vacation sites for all inclusive packages? Looking to spend $1,500 or less a person, total, ~5ish days. Heard about a 'last minute deal' sites, but every site nowadays seems to identify themselves as a last minute deal site. Looking to go mid/end of May.

Dominican Republic is actually the first place that came to mind for me, because it's still Caribbean, but it's not the first thing you think of (Jamaica, Bahamas).

Yeah, this site seems extremely fair from the other prices I've seen. Only thing that concerns me, is for the place I selected as a test, it only had 'our ratings' not actual customer reviews. But the deal itself can't be beat, and I've been researching this on various sites with similar locations for about 2 hours.

Yeah that's odd, the last time I looked they had plenty customer ratings. Looks like the optimized the site for mobile devices. Maybe that's why you're not seeing any customer reviews, so check it out on desktop when you get a chance.

Check out Majestic Elegance, roommate went last year and loved it.

Thanks for the tip. I only looked at one specific place in the Dominican, and they had like 4 options and all were our review, no customer reviews. So I'm guessing I just selected a very random location (IDK the cities within DR). I doubt it's an issue and only that way for the one search I did.

Yeah Punta Cana is the way to go if you're looking at the DR. Coworker is from there and said it's the place to be. You can filter your search for that.

I just got back from Puna Cana last May and heading back in April, will be my third time overall...love that place. Have never paid more than $1200 per person for seven days.

For the most part I book through https://www.vacationexpress.com/ because I can usually get a direct flight out of Cincy.

If you do go to the DR I suggest the Saona Island excursion (booze cruise)...by far my favorite.

Koon, just google the resort you find on the site. I'm sure you'll find a Trip Advisor review which will give you more than you ever wanted to know...

Go on a cruise. Seven day Western Caribbean out of Miami. $1,000 if you want your own room, $750 if you double up. Figure about $100 each for some good shore excursions.

Lima is awful, spend a little time there as possible if you go to Peru. Head up to Icquitos, down to Cusco, Inca Trail, Puno, Arriquipa ec.

Punta Cana without a doubt. Flights drive cost though - lots of places have direct flights with non-Priceline carriers. Southwest, Allegiant and some others I can't think of. Funjet/Apple used to have some non-listed charter type flights from some areas but maybe not anymore.

A few years ago we ended up going to Atlantis in Bahamas instead of Punta Cana because the flight was so much it was actually cheaper. And that place can get expensive.

Can't stand Cancun - food and service in Punta Cana is so much better it isn't even funny. Probably over half of DR tourists are non-American which makes for a different experience as well. We aren't big partiers so Cancun is probably better if you see Sr. Frogs as a must see attraction.

I never understood the appeal of going to some exotic destination to get wasted. It's much cheaper to get wasted at home.

Should note, although it's kind of implied and most places mentioned will definitely have it, but we will want to go snorkeling. Did that once in Jamaica and we got lucky with the time/location and saw so much awesome ocean life I've been itching to go again.
