What grounds do they even have for doing this? All 22 is accessible to all coaches so it isn't like they are keeping other teams from seeing their pass offense. The guy apparently added his own comments and talked about their pass offense so it isn't like it is illegal for him to profit from it since he made his own changes to it. I would assume that the issue would be somewhere in the latter, but reaction and commentary videos have been a thing for a long while now.

Is this just a to be a pain in the ass?

They have absolutely no case. It's 1000% fair use.

Oh, so the conference has non conference policy the commissioner can speak to?

It’s crazy all the P4 conferences EXCEPT the Big10 has OOC P4 game requirements. Just one game. Not a crazy, hard request/mandate.

The hard question is “Why doesn’t the BIG do this like everyone else Tony.”

The political answer would be hard to listen to I’m sure. With 18 members and the lack of competitive teams at the bottom, the SEC with 16 and a deeper league has a much better schedule, and I hate to be a SEC apologist.

However, where multiple BIG teams play a schedule of FCS team, low end G6, another G6, 5 conference home games (for 8 home games total), and 4 away conference games something should be discussed by the media. Those teams likely only play 2 toughish games all year. One or both are usually at home too.

It’s what in the media has referred to as winning the schedule lotto. It should be addressed to reduce how extremely hard or easy these schedules can be: 10 conference games, BIG/SEC Challenege, or just one OOC P4 game at the minimum would be a start.

Playing 9 of 17 teams is 52.94%. LESS than 8 of 15 teams - SEC until this year at 53.33%. Crazy low to consider a total play no one on purpose mentality.

I think a good compromise is that if you want to play a FCS game, you then schedule 2 P4 to fill out the OOC schedule.
Or if you don't want to play 2 P4, then you have to go on the road to the P4 team on years you play FCS.

I don't want to see FCS dry up because they can no longer get easy paychecks.

FCS games shouldn’t count towards record. Do that and it would force all these teams to schedule up because the G5 teams wouldn’t have enough openings to go around.

This 100%. Everyone should have a “preseason” FCS game in week 0 and then get into FBS scheduling at the very least.

FEI doesn’t count games against FCS. I don’t think we should display 11 - 0 as a final record that’s just unnecessarily petty if you have a FCS win, but it’s extremely easy to just ignore it as a data point in advanced stats and discussion. People choose not to, because most of their favorite teams have one in a given year. Remember we are generally the exception here. An Alabama fan debating a Miami fan won’t care to argue the merit of a FCS win.

Things like this is why people just don’t like the idea of joining the Big Ten. The out in the open BS the SEC does isn’t any worse than they BS the Big Ten does behind the scenes. They all but admit here they don’t want to enforce hard non conference scheduling unless there is financial incentive to do so and that they’ve been tanking this behind the scenes for the last few years to get their preferred playoff format. Which, is just a Fox vs ESPN fight since the expansion opens up the CFP contract so Fox can bid on games.

The SEC made this their business throughout the BCS and 4 team playoff era. By playing 8 conference games they would go 14-0 in the 9th slot and everyone appeared to have a superior SOS.

Buncha unoriginal fucks!
We stole Homer's Trojan Horse first! We did it better.

Homer actually compiled the Odyssey after a vision that traveled space time revealed the unholy future to come with USC adopting the Trojan name. Appalled, he changed the great script and turned Troy into self-defeating losers rather than give USC a mascot to be proud of.

I think they beat USC this year. They blew a 21-10 lead on the road in 2024. They beat Illinois last season as well. I think Wiscy will be better this year than people think and we'll look back in amazement that ND beat them as badly as they did in essentially 2 quarters of ball.
July for me.

Couldn’t find it, but pretty sure I picked USC to go 8-4 with a chance of 7-5.

Yep. He *might* survive if they can beat Ohio State at home next week, just b/c of his buyout, but we may as well just start with the tampering today. I'd take Wafle and Jahkeem Stewart please.

this was mentioned in the watch party thread. This is a JOKE:

At best this ref had an insane power trip, at worst he found a way to extend USCs drive on purpose….

Felt like a huge penalty at the time. This must happen 20 times a game. It's a nothingburger, especially with the play already blown dead. (also you can see Fickell is also standing in the white. Would they have called it on him too?)

It's the same penalty that get called against UGA in the Sugar Bowl against us a couple years ago. Any time contact is made, it's automatically a penalty, not simply a sideline warning. In the UGA case, the reef was pursuing a play down the sideline and didn't see the player he ran into, while contact was easily avoidable in this case.
