PSU has got great coordinators. But all encompassing, the head coach to the coordinators to their recruiting, is far from the best in college football.

USC is open to the game as long as it’s not on campus, not in the traditional calendar spot and does not have any impact on the season.

Other than that….

Basically they - Riley - DGAF about playing the game anymore but if it’s meaningless they’ll still do it for show. This series is 100% going on ice.

USC offers multi-year extension to Notre Dame, ‘hopeful’ for deal to extend rivalry series

Following public uproar over the potential end of their 100-year old football rivalry, USC has made an amended offer to Notre Dame that would extend their annual series. USC offers multi-year extension to Notre Dame, 'hopeful' for deal to extend rivalry series for multiple years beyond this season, USC athletic director Jennifer Cohen told The Times. Negotiations remain ongoing between the two schools, but Cohen said she is “really hopeful” that USC’s new offer, which better accommodates Notre Dame’s preference for a long-term deal, would lead to an agreement “very soon.”

Seems like a positive development. Though I had to chuckle at a few things in this quote, as if Notre Dame doesn't also travel all over the place, and conference championship games are some sort of regular thing for USC:

“It’s not very typical that a P4 school would travel back and forth across the country for a nonconference game in the middle of October,” Cohen said. “Show me who else is doing that and doing the kind of travel we’re doing. It’s a cool tradition to play at the end of the year, but then those are back-to-back rivalry games with a conference championship — and our opponent doesn’t play in a conference championship.”

ORRRR... hear me out AD Cohen... OOOORRRRRR DON'T JOIN A CONFERENCE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DAMN COUNTRY!

Seriously, you and 5 other schools sold your soul to join east coast conferences for a pay day, now you want to complain that you have to *checks notes* play on the east coast a lot.

And you joined the B1G, a conference that doesn't care about any school in it other than Ohio State and Michigan. The entire conference has always been run for the benefit of those two football teams.

But ND does extend its season with the playoffs, something U$C has not needed to worry about in many years.

“But no conference championship” is such a lame-ass talking point, even more so in the expanded CFP era.
I expect it from comment-section mouth-breathers and, like, Pat Narduzzi. But you’d think the athletic director at USC would have something more original to say.

When you have a hammer, all that matters is a Conference Championship Game.

Perhaps after usc cancels our series, they’ll announce they’re canceling any games not played at 7:00pm PST

It's your own fault, USC. You wanted to chase the money by joining the B1G, now you gotta pay the price. Don't like it, shouldn't have broken up the PAC-12.
