The Pats stink right now and need a new QB, but my lord I don't want them anywhere near this guy.

If the League told Aaron Rodgers it wasn't allowed, I fail to see what the story is here. The Shield won't allow it, so he can go scratch.

I hope Williams and his people keep running their mouths. The Bears won't touch him.

It was rumored a while back, I'm not sure what has come up recently to bring this back into the news.

You don't make this much noise (his Dad, his agent) if you're not going in the upcoming draft.

My first thought was this could potentially be an intentional move to decrease his draft stock and put him on a better team.

Didn’t it come out a while back that they were worried about being drafted to a terrible team (Cardinals at the time) and he’d at least consider returning to school if so?

Scott Wolf who covers USC says he's heard rumors that Riley is putting feelers out for an NFL job if he could follow Williams to where ever he lands. lol

USC is going to be really interesting this offseason. After benefitting from a string of Heisman QB's, Lincoln Riley is staring at the prospect of starting new with an unproven QB. It wouldnt surprise me at all if he poaches a young stud transfer from somewhere and if he isnt able to do that, I could see him leaving for greener pastures. Lord knows they dont have the talent on defense to win without the offense carrying the team.

USC could end up with 4 or 5 losses this year. Couple that with a down year next year and all of a sudden, his seat could start getting warm.

On a related note, it could be hard for ND to land a talented QB transfer considering that teams like USC and Alabama are also going to be in the hunt.

Yeah, but do they have Geraldine Barker as OC?

If HS recruits and NFL scouts think this, I'd be absolutely stunned. The only correlation is that Riley coached them both and they play QB. Kyler Murray has nothing to do with Caleb Williams otherwise.

If I was Riley/USC I'd throw 1.5M at Al Golden. Handicap your rival and get one of the best DCs in CFB. USC recruits itself.

He better become friends with a good defensive coordinator quickly.

It helps that their unproven QB is a Nelson, a five star from last year. I have no idea how good he is but the good folks who follow recruiting believe he has potential. A young, highly-rated recruit like Nelson might dissuade a transfer quarterback from choosing USC. I think Milroe has another year at bama so it won't be easy for them to convince anyone elite to transfer either.

If Rising doesn't play, USC should be able to beat Utah at home, but I agree that they could end up with as many as five losses. At best, I think they'll finish with three losses. Next year doesn't get any easier for them - LSU on a neutral field, and at home, they have Notre Dame and Penn State. On the road, they'll have Michigan, Minnesota, UCLA, Washington, and Maryland. That's a lot of traveling and potential cold weather. They could easily be sub .500 next year.

USC is going to have a tough time in the BIG, unless the conference cuts them a break and creates some sort of west coast pod with the rest of the PAC teams.

IDK that we do but the number isn't important, the concept is. If I were USC I'd consider it.
Of course you dream of it if you’re USC, but I’ll take this opportunity to remind you that you’re on an ND board. It doesn’t take an ND homer to understand that it would be dumb for Al Golden to make a move that is lateral at best for pay that is equivalent to or perhaps a drop from what he’s already making.
Nothing is concrete, but some members have raised the possibility of what Al Golden might do next after the success he has had at ND. Many realistic, thought out comments have been made. You chose to take another route as you often do.

Lots of words, nothing said. No one on this board knows Al Golden's true desires for him and his family.

Weird comment to try to pick a fight with.

If I were Al Golden, I wouldn't. He needs to increase his stock and that doesn't happen with USCs defense
He's 58 and not really in resume building stage, IMO. His next move may well be his last. I'm not saying he'd do it, I said if I were Lincoln/USC I'd consider going after him.

Golden has always seemed to have anchored down on the East too from what I remember. BC, Penn St, Temple, Miami, the Lions and Bengals, and then ND is the furthest west he's ventured. Not sure he has any interest in the West Coast.
