USC recruiting and everything else

According to a report from TMZ, USC doesn't just have to worry about keeping recruits on board - several players are thinking about transferring:

The parents of several current players, including starters, have told us they are "re-evaluating" whether or not to stay at SC next season following the Steve Sarkisian saga. Everyone we spoke with expressed disappointment in the USC football program -- with one parent telling us, "We feel let down by the coaching staff." "Here are some of the stronger quotes:

"My son turned down several schools to come play for Coach Sarkisian. He told us [our son] would learn how to become a responsible young man but his actions haven't been a good example. After this season, we will be re-evaluating whether or not to come back to the school.

Another parent told us, "I am just very disappointed in the whole program. I thought this would be a great fit for my son but I can see things much clearer now ... and it's not. I don't know if it's going to get any better."

"My son's high school team was more disciplined than the USC football program."

The report does not indicate which players are thinking of transferring, but it does suggest that there is a lot more turmoil within the program than was previously thought.

I don't blame them for looking around. Essentially they were lied to and they risked the well-being of their kid with their influences. I'd be looking. FUSC.

If true, that helps us this weekend. Lack of locker room cohesiveness rarely helps a team.

While that seems like the conventional wisdom, I just get the feeling it will be the opposite. When they run out of that tunnel to the booze of ND stadium at night, I think they take on the "us against the world mentality" which can be very dangerous, especially considering their talent level.

Hard to feel too much sympathy for the parents. Even cursory due diligence makes it clear that (1) USC is a dirty program; that (2) gives zero sh!ts about graduating its players. If you allowed your son to turn down offers from Stanford and ND to go play for Troy, you deserve all of this and more.

Was this a freudian because of Sark, or an intentional pun on boos??? LOL

Possible, but I'd be more worried if the world had done something to them as opposed to them crumbling from the inside out. They're a team of individuals, many of whom are apparently ready to start looking out for #1.

I understand the point. But also, the program was dirtbagville with Carroll and company. NCAA "punished" them for it and with Haden taking on AD and a new coach I can see some people think, "this is a new school and new administration."

Location could also hinder them looking at other schools as obviously it happens a lot that the kid wants to stay close to home. They get the snakeoil salesman pitch from Sark that all is well now at SC so they feel comfortable going now. Theory.

Except that USC hired two of Pete the Cheat's flunkies in a pathetic attempt to recreate Carroll's dynasty. They kept the dirt, but never found the winning formula.

That's why I levied my criticism at the parents. Can't really fault 16- and 17-year-olds for buying into the glitz of Troy. Due diligence is on the adults. A simple Google search can pull up USC's sub-50% African-American GSR, and countless articles about the scandals that have constantly hounded the program for well over a decade now.

Get out while you can, parents, but don't expect any sympathy.

but somehow having a former player on our team who got catfished(crazy as it seems), and players suspended due to academic issues---ND gets negative publicity like they are running a bad program

here I was hoping to see they lost a bunch of commits. I guess they are smart enough not to let them cash their checks until signing day.

Do you think that matters? What are the odds MSU or OSU lose 2? What are the odds MSU AND OSU lose 2?

They only need to lose one. Neither of these teams look good and the polls are looking for a reason to drop them. Especially with loss at the end of the season, one loss for MSU and OSU is all that is needed for the B1G to miss the playoffs (or at least get in behind ND).
