I'd take Daelin Hayes in a heart beat just because athletes like him don't grow on trees. Still think he's destined for DE, as he's about 6-3/6-4, 250 pounds right now, after a year or two in college he's destined to be 260-270, pretty big for a LB'er. However, I don't recall a kid ever getting so much hype for actually doing so little on the football field. He's played very little football, and he doesn't really jump out at you on film and he's a 5*? Eh. Not buying it.

I think he could possibly live up to that based on potential alone, but 5* rating should be based off of a lot more than just pure potential. Recruits should have to prove it and earn that on the football field.

Crusader beat me to it, but you're right in a lot of ways. This kid had done next to nothing on the field, but every single reporter just raves about him after they watch him in camp. I mean, RAVES about him. No high schooler should be able to move like he does at his size (with the frame to get much bigger). But can he do it with pads on? I mean, let's be honest, a kid with his size and his ability to move shouldn't be a non-factor on film , correct?

It's a fascinating case, but like you said, you take him in a heartbeat.

I agree 100%.

Don't think I posted that to oppose what you were saying. I posted it because it was there. I was impressed a reporter got that out in 4 hours.

No doubt, I knew you weren't opposing what I said. I just tried to write it quickly before work beckoned.

Interesting

With Town's decision to transfer coming this early into his USC tenure, it leaves him options. Already destined for a redshirt at USC, Town can now transfer to a four-year college sit out his mandatory transfer season, be no worse off and be in a more friendly system for his skill set. We're hearing that Town plans on quickly evaluating his options as soon as he gets his release and transferring within a matter of weeks, allowing himself to enroll in classes this fall.

So where will Town land? That is very much up in the air at this point but there are a few schools that would immediately make sense.

The obvious choice
Florida – Doug Nussmeier was the coach that won Town's initial commitment to Alabama before he left for Michigan. Had Nussmeier stayed, Town likely would have never landed at USC. Now Nussmeier is at Florida, a school in desperate need of sound quarterback play in a decidedly pro-style system. One quarterback on campus is an option guy (Treon Harris), the other is unproven (Will Grier). Two Florida commitments in 2017 and 2016 have virtually no combined varsity starting experience. Town to Florida makes all kinds of sense.

Makes sense
Pitt – There are only four quarterbacks on the roster at Pitt. That includes the incumbent starter redshirt junior Chad Voytik and Tennessee transfer Nathan Peterman, also a redshirt junior. Pitt lost their QB late to Vandy in the 2014 class and their 2015 quarterback Ben DiNucci's other offers were from the likes of James Madison and Albany. Pat Narduzzi would love to add some depth to his offense and Town fits the profile.

Colorado State – Mike Bobo offered and recruited Town when he was at Georgia. He's a coach that has had success both running a pro system and developing the quarterback position. Colorado State is a school that isn't totally out of region for the southern California native and Jim McElwain certainly left the program in good shape.

Long shot
Notre Dame – More than likely, Town to Notre Dame would be trading one backup job in for another because Notre Dame is so high on their on true freshman in Brandon Wimbush. That being said, Stanford only offered two quarterbacks in 2015: Town and Wimbush. Mike Sanford was the quarterback coach at Stanford when they offered Town and at the time Sanford had made Town a major priority. Now that he's at Notre Dame, would he look to add some depth with a cerebral guy like Town?

Sark runs a spread O, right? Town's leaving SC to find a better system fit, yet would want to come to Notre Dame to play in a spread offense? No. The Sanford connection is interesting. But no. This has FL written all over it.

Sark doesn't even know what he wants to run LOL. He claims he wants to run a spread, and have a QB with mobility. And yet, this year he has Kessler, who is a pro-style QB. The next 2 years (unless he goes pro after next year...he has been KILLING it in camp and is right there with Kessler), Max Browne, another pro-style QB, will be at the helm.

He inherited those two (luckily), but while claiming he wanted to go to a spread, he simultaneously recruited Ricky Town, another Pro-style QB to go along with Sam Darnold, a dual threat. And the other dual-threat he recruited out of Serra has just been converted to WR. Sooooooo, if you're keeping score, Sark had 5 QB's on the roster, 3 of which he recruited, and only one of which is currently playing as a dual-threat QB in camp.

#lackofidentity (but a TON of talent)

Rumors swirling that Sark got trashed at the "Salute to Troy" event tonight. Dropped some f-bombs while making an introduction and had to be escorted out. Sounds like a good party.

Sounds like Sarkisian went full on Gary Moeller: Why is Sark trying to be Like Kevin Oneil
I was there and everyone at our table could not believe what we were hearing. He was totally slurring his words and finally dropped an F bomb after which he did not return to the stage. We were next to the Kessler's family table and Cody and his girlfriend had shocked looks on their faces. Cody ended up closing the event with a great final speech to the audience (2500 in attendance) with the entire team on the stage behind him. I saw Haden speaking animatedly and walking off quickly with Peter Sirmon. Also saw Nikias in the mens room and he appeared embarrassed and upset. Sark may have gotten away with this in front of a small booster group of guys, but to pull this stint in front of such a large group including the school president, AD, big donors, players and their families along with other fans with their kids is pretty unforgivable.

I'm surprised video hasn't surfaced yet.

What a stand up guy to be recruiting your high school son to come and play for him at USC.

He had a huge drinking problem at UW that was kept generally hush-hush until after he left for USC. He rubbed a lot of the UW people wrong and was probably heading towards a firing sooner rather than later. Also, I didn't know this until today, but apparently his wife left him because he's an alcoholic and not addressing his behavior.

He's a great recruiter and "good enough" coach to win at USC.

Kind of surprised SC would look past all this and hire him anyway, considering how well the Kiffy experiment went. I mean, it's not like Sark is a proven world beater as a head coach.

And the fact he's a good recruiter doesn't hold much IMO. They need a good coach, which I'm not sure he is. Kiffin was also a good recruiter. I think Ty would be able to fill a class of talent at SC.

And I thought ND's due diligence with the O'Leary hiring was bad!

I don't think Troy is falling, but I don't mind them having egg on their face one bit.

In this day and age, If you get drunk and speak your mind you are jokingly a joke. If you are the Head Coach of a USC you are jokingly making a foolery out of the University. To the parents whom may allow their future in this man's hands.. Goodluck

Wiltfong's right. In the grand scheme of things, this really isn't much of a deal. Just an embarrassing footnote.
Now if Sark shows up drunk on the regular at university events, or gets a DUI on his way home one night, it becomes a big deal. If USC goes 7-5 and the knives start to come out, maybe it becomes a big deal. But if he goes about his business the right way and they have a decent season, you'll never hear about this again.
