Supposedly USC has a bunch of kids who haven't qualified yet. I know at least 3 are ESPNU150 style guys and quite a big deal... kinda reminds me of how Lane Kiffin's "awesome" classes at Tennessee fell apart so terribly as time went on.

Discuss.

Do you know the identities of the players?

I think it's Steve Dillon, Greg Townsend, Javorious (sp?) Allen and Tre Madden.

Madden and Townsend are top 100 guys in Rivals and Allen was an ESPNU150 guy.

With USC's number crunch, it would be unwise to take any recruits who might not be able to cut it academically. They can't afford to have players sitting due to ineligibility.

Steve Dillon (the worst rated guy of the group... 3* DE) is officially not coming to USC.

Junior Pomee (consensus 4* TE/WR) is also rumored out. No new information on the other guys. USC *might* be truing to clear out room after the appeal fail... but I'm not sure.

Pomee is leaving (if true) on his own free will. He never wanted to really go to USC (he was a UCLA commit, then FL, then USC), but family pressure swayed him. Not a surprise he's leaving if you listened to his press conference when he signed w/ SC. His heart was with FL.

Dillon wasn't a USC decision - they wanted him badly - but he couldn't qualify, even under Lame Kiffin and Ed O (Haden is REALLY influencing things down there!).

So SC hasn't started purging - yet. But I'm sure it'll be coming...

Haden is exactly what USC needed as AD. He's classy.

No offense, man, but is it possible you are just buying the BS they are trying to sell? Obviously if they start purging they aren't going to have a press conference announcing that the purging has officially begun. They are always going to offer some excuse or rationale for why this guy and that guy unfortunately had to leave the program even though they wanted him there and they will miss him soooo badly.

Who's selling it??? It wasn't USC. Steve Dillon is a beast who USC wanted very badly - why would you purge a potential stud who has several years of domination in him BEFORE he even steps on campus and not one of your players who isn't cutting it??? That makes zero sense. If a kid who is on the 3 deep suddenly left the school, I'd get it. So again, USC didn't purge Dillon - he couldn't get in.

All the Pomee stuff I said was true - his words when he committed were that his heart was at FL but it was better for he and his family (meaning, his family only) that he stay closer to home. He enrolled at SC, and apparently (not 100% confirmed yet) dropped his summer courses and left USC. Again, USC knew about their sanctions a long time ago - why recruit this kid and accept him, and then purge him 5 months later?

Occured to me too, but NDinL.A. knows/follows/has to deal with USC more than most here. He knows what's going on when it comes to SC.

What BS are you trying to sell?

NDinL.A. responded in context as a followup to a post by Lax. Lax mentioned cleaning house at the end of his post. NDinL.A. mentioned purging at the end of his post. The gist of their posts was about players not qualifiying or having their hearts somewhere other than Sepulevada Boulevard.

Pat Haden was NOT hired last week. H was announced as USC AD a year ago yesterday. If he was purging recruits why wait until July? He's smart enough not to have signed the unwanted last February. Kiffin might not be able to make the distinction but Haden is.

As for the "excuses" as to why players leave check the threads for Banks, Boyd, Roback, James, Evans, Bullard, Fauria, Yeatman, Walker, Frazer, Jones, Carufel, Jones, Prince, Reuland, Hiben, Duerson, Incarnato, Kadous, Tally, and lots more. Things happen to change a kid's perspective. They reassess sometime to the good Lynch and Prestwood. Walker was a productive kicker at SU. Frazer did well at UCon. Demetrious's college highpoint was missing the bus. BTW, all those guys qualified for admission and enrolled in college. I believe LAX's original point was the USC appears to be having some qualifications issues.

NDinL.A. lives in the USC area, works with USC people, and USC associates, and has a hot ND wife (speaking of impending purges). His local news is permeated with USC news but he also follows recruiting in general and has for a number of years.

The only BS was your post.

Pomee qualified (good for him putting in the hard summer school work).

But add former 5:s: Markeith Ambles is academically ineligible.

Ambles has been a nightmare since the day he stepped onto that campus. That kid has a lot of growing up to do.

It's sad that these kids are offered a scholly just to not quality academically. To have dreams and then to have it all come crashing down, it seems almost criminal that schools can offer kids and then they not get in. I wish them all the best.

Sink or swim.... the onus is on the kid. They either do the work or not. This kid obviously thought he could skate by doing nothing. It's his own damn fault.

Dillon is not listed on the Roster. Ambles (WR) and Allen (RB) are listed on the Roster but not on the 4 deep Depth Chart at their positions. Madden is listed as #3 at one LB position. Townsend is listed as #4 at one DE position. USC Depth Chart

Perhaps the coaching staff will use a year for those players to work on academics, learn the system and benefit from the S&C program.
