Next Florida Coach
1A. Dan Mullen
1B. Chris Peterson

I guess there aren't too many people that know much about Chris Petersen (not son...sen). Let me help you out:

1. He grew up in California
2. He has said repeatedly that he has no desire for the East Coast.
3. People keep saying "Petersen hasn't left...but when has he had a job like UF thrown his way?". Um...I guess USC is chopped liver now because they left that job at his feet and he scoffed at it.

Sure, USC was about to go on probation but it's for two years--it's not as if they wouldn't have been able to recruit players. Last year may have been tough but after this year I think it's honestly going to be an easy sell. Come to beautiful Southern California, you'll start your freshman season with no pressure because we can't get into the post season. Your sophomore year, we'll be rolling.

But Petersen said no, thanks. He'll leave Boise some day but my guess is that the time is not just yet. He's happy, he's great friends with Dan Hawkins who has said repeatedly that leaving Boise was a mistake--maybe it wouldn't have been if he'd had more success at CU--and his family is very happy in Boise.

There are rumors swirling Chris Martin was talking on facebook about transferring again, and his mom went OFF on him basically saying there is no way in hell he's going anywhere. Hope someone can see it and share, I'd love to see how that went down.

So glad we don't have to deal with this headache.

From Cheryl Martin: First off, This is crap, Chris you are not going anywhere...It is time to stop acting like we are still in High School You are in College and you don't have to pay for ****...The very next time you leave you will. Get over it move on, cheer on whomever is going to coach next year....TIME TO GROW UP!!!!!!!

Funny thing is that 2 people "liked" his mom's comment. You're mom just ripped you a new ******* on a social networking site and people enjoy reading it. Talk about adding insult to injury. I almost feel bad for him. Almost...

Sometimes kids need to be embarrassed to get their attention. A lady I worked with had a kid who was causing problems at school. She threatened to spend an entire day with him at school, carrying his books, etc. if the problem ever occurred again. Of course the kid was mortified at the thought and the kid never had that problem again.

He should join Seanthrel Henderson at Miami, or maybe the Prestwood/Lynch couple at FSU. USC has met their quota on primadonnas, so they are out.

1) Meyer and his family aren't leaving Gainesville. He has two kids in high school. Doesn't mean he'll be looking over anyone's shoulder. He'll pull a Bobby Bowden...be around town, but not at practice

2) I think he's sincere this time in wanting to be with his family. If he's coaching in 2011 or 2012, I was wrong and he is full of BS. If he takes 3 or 4 years off, he was sincere in wanting to relax and watch his kids grow up. As for Shelly, after his 20 years of coaching and 70/80 hour weeks, I don't think she's going to send him anywhere. He's going to be able to be a full time Dad for the first time ever.

I can say from personal experience it's one of the hardest things for a coach to do. My dad stepped down as head coach at my high scool after 10 years to watch my sister and me grow up and never missed one of our games. He says he has no regrets and loved every minute of it, but also loved coaching me and my friends in pee wee football because it got him back on the sidlelines haha
