My guess is if people were so important that they have this kind of inside info, they wouldnt be wasting their time on this message board. I've been around here way to long to believe any of this at the moment. I've seen too many rumors float through here from people who claimed they have sources, yet refuse to ever name them. None of us our investigative reporters. Naming your sources on this website won't harm anyone.

Why? Why would any school on sanctions and probation even touch that piece of crap? He's a dishonest cheater who does anything to win. Do you think a repeat of everything he pulled at Florida would slide while you're under the NCAA's microscope? Or even Delaney's? I'm not saying the B1G is all pure or anything, but compared to the SEC they look like Mother Teresa. I don't know how Meyer could survive in the B1G while trying to graduate kids and stay within the rules. Actually I know he couldn't. To run his system he needs thugs who are looking for a school who will dare to touch them despite knowing what's in store. How many arrests did Meyer's players have in 4 years?

If I'm Ohio State, which I'm not because I'm intelligent and not a piece of crap, then I don't even think about Urban Meyer. That's like asking for the death penalty. At this point you need to save face, and bringing in the epitome of scum is not the way to do it.

I agree with this, except that I agree with Return2Glory that Ohio State doesn't care about potential under-the-surface slime; they wanted to keep Tressel and would have, until he became a liability to winning because keeping him increased the chances of USC-like sanctions. Then they threw him under the team bus caravan. They'll say anything (think Gee's comments about OSU being a "poster child for compliance" lol) to ward off sanctions, but they will only DO as much as they have to.

So I think they would like Urban, notwithstanding however sleazy he really may be; it's the appearance of nonsleaziness they are after, and I am not sure the public sees Urban as dirty. That's not to say he wants to take on the sanctions, whatever they may be; it's a bit hard for me to believe he takes it on blindly, but who knows? I suspect he could deal with USC-type sanctions, and I'd guess OSU's will be a least a little less than that.

Also re the bold part, hahaha. That's good. As an Ohio native, that's how I feel.....

Jason Sapp from Blue and Gold Illustrated RT this from a beat writer in Florida

BGI_JasonSapp Jason Sapp
RT @cdowlar: Got a call from a source in Tampa that says Urban Meyer is a done deal to Ohio State as of this morning. We'll see, though.

This would obviously be more hurtful to Michigan than us but it would certainly still negatively impact us. We have about 5 OH guys on our '13 list and a number of top players with both us and OSU high on their list. Urban will wreak havoc on the mid-west in terms of recruiting.

Whiskey, do you read Clay Travis?

I don't. Several CFB people I follow on Twitter frequently bag on him for being an unabashed SEC homer.

Is he the one that broke the story about Herbstreit asking Meyer about coaching for him? Not sure where I read that.

Ha- that he is! Drives me nuts. He has also has a very condescending and esoteric style of writing. He has a 3 hour radio show with Blaine Bishop and some nobody here in Nashville. The radio show is good for some chuckles, but then it inevitably gets to Clay proselytizing about how smart he is.

He wrote a big, long expose on Herbstreit a couple weeks ago and mentioned that he does posses somewhat of a desire to get into coaching-- QB's, then become the OC. I believe he actually spoke with Meyer about it, but in a seeking counsel sort of way. And of course OSU is where Herbie wants to be. I think if he and Travis weren't both Nashvillians now, Travis would've never gotten the interview and time exposure he was allowed.

So anyway, to answer your question if Travis actually broke the story-- I have no idea, I just read it from him. Of course if one were to ask Clay Travis if he broke the story, he would answer "yes, absolutely, I broke the story," even if he didn't. Think Al Gore inventing the internet when it comes to that dude. Or that 3-4 year stretch where Curt Schilling was in every last interview, discussion, or Congressional hearing involving baseball...and some matters that had nothing to do with baseball or his life as a pitcher.

I think it'd be a brilliant move for UM to hire Herbie as a QB coach if and when he takes the OSU job.

All the great coachs do it, take on teams on the up and up. Phil Jackson is considered the greatest coach in NBA history, yet never took on a terrible team

he had to move out of Columbus because they wanted his head.....doubt it

He's young, dynamic, photogenic, and very media savvy; not to mention a legacy and a formerly successful Buckeye QB.

If and when UM sweeps into Colombus, it'd be hailed as the Second Coming of Christ. He would bring the program back to the top of the B1G very quickly, so Buckeye fans wouldn't care if he named bin-Laden and Hitler as assistants. Perfect opportunity for Herbstreit to redeem himself and to launch his coaching career.

Whether or not UM would risk any ill-will from Buckeye fans by bringing Herbie onboard... I don't know. I could see it happening though.

agree 100% w/ ya...but i kind of feel Herbie is trying to become the college version of chris berman...anyways he wouldn't want to leave erin andrews :)

Here's What We Know | Eleven Warriors

So, last night's tweet generated a bit of chatter, eh?
Responses to that tweet break down between outright jubilation (70%), proper skepticism (25%) and efforts to discredit us by some in more traditional media (5%).
While we can't blame the skeptics, it's worth pointing out our track record. We hear a ton of things, but only come forward with things we're virtually certain about. Like this. Or this. We were flamed for breaking both of those, but, you know how they turned out.
Before we dive into what we do know, it's important to point out what we're not saying:

Urban Meyer was not in Columbus yesterday or anytime in the last couple of weeks.
There is no contract in place between Urban Meyer and Ohio State. Nothing signed, whatsoever.

Now, here's what we do know based off of multiple sources that have a proven track record with delivering timely information to us:

There has long been mutual interest between Ohio State and Urban Meyer.
Urban has agreed in principle to take the position next year. Numbers have been exchanged and agreed upon via back-channel talks.
Ohio State and Meyer are waiting for the NCAA to deliver their verdict, after which time, the announcement of Meyer as the new head coach will take place.
Both parties are on the same page with regards to what they expect to hear from the NCAA. Both parties believe the NCAA's punishment will not be an obstacle to Meyer taking the job.
While early December has been floated, the university is hoping to hear back from the NCAA later this month.
LSU offensive coordinator Greg Studrawa, a Fostoria native who coached with Meyer at Bowling Green, is very much in play to become a member of Meyer's staff at Ohio State.

That's what we know at this time. We'll continue to deliver news that we're confident in as it comes our way. We have a five year history of being conservative with what we break and we're proud of not rushing to break news just to break it.

That's entirely credible. Blech :curse:

Gee and Smith still have their jobs, no? How can the NCAA not drop the hammer on OSU for LOIC while those two clowns remain in control of OSU football?

Sounds like Meyer and OSU have already been assured that they're getting a pass. I f*cking hate the NCAA.

This is exactly how I feel. How can you have a coach who did what Tressel did (or failed to do) and also a coaching staff asleep at the wheel, both re the tats, but also re the summer jobs issue (an issue that arose AFTER these players and coaches and administrators knew the program was under scrutiny (and so Gee and Smith KNEW they were under the 'scope)), and NOT have LOIC? I've got a bad feeling re Ohio State getting the kid gloves treatment.

... I just don't see Mack Brown stepping away anytime soon. He's only 60 years old and unless Texas forces him out, I just don't see him leaving soon.

I like it, I like it! All praise to the AARP Set!!!!

Yeppers. After years and years and years of practice, drinking as copiously and luxuriously as I could afford, my mind is still as sharp as a sharp, spikey thingy attached to a a beveled round thing-a-ma-bob on the top.
