ESPN (go figure) is predicting an ND loss.

UPSET SPECIAL Tulsa 33, Notre Dame 30. Yup, two weeks in a row I am going to pick Notre Dame to lose in my upset special. No, Tulsa doesn’t run the triple option, but the Golden Hurricane have an offense capable of racking up yards and points. Notre Dame is going to have to find an answer for the trio of Damaris Johnson, Trae Johnson and Charles Clay.

I don't see it happening.., is it possible? Anything is, but after last weekend's horrible loss and the events of this week, I see an imspired ND football team beating Tulsa soundly.

I was feeling fine until Navy lowered their booms and sang "Anchor's Away".

ESPN (go figure) is predicting an ND loss.

Tulsa has put up some scary offensive numbers (8th nationally in total yards, 13th in points) but we rank 7th in passing yards and they rank dead last in passing defense. They do appear to have a solid line though (only 9 sacks allowed).

Still, I just don't see this happening.

With ND, ANYTHING is possible. I'm still saying Tulsa wins but whats new?

SI and ESPN both have ND getting upset, they are looking to make news rather than put in a logical pick. I am calling right now that Georgia beats Florida which I some money on.

It isn't all that surprising. Until ND proves that it can beat the teams that it is supposed to beat consistently, then no one on this board should be upset. ND needs to re-earn the respect that it was once shown.

Bleacher Report is picking a Tulsa upset too. I really hope it doesn't happen at the first game I've been to in YEARS!

I can easily see the team sluggish and unfocused on Saturday after the past couple of days.

Its not completely out of the realm of possibility. A badly hurt ND team, coming off an *** kicking. On the bright side we lost by a miracle to the #5 team in the country, whatever rank Stanford is, UM should have been a win and a future 10-2 team in Navy. We did beat Purdue, WMU, BC and Pitt. So we are beating the teams we should beat.

I now have a bad feeling about this game; have a bad feeling about the rest of this season; have a bad feeling about the coach surviving after what went on this week.

It just all feels bad and icky. I'm trying not to go overboard, but it feels like the program its really on a precipice right now, and the slightest nudge is going to cause a huge disaster. I don't know if thats Tulsa or what...

I think the disaster already happened.

Question now is, how do they respond.

Speaking of Upset Alerts...that same #5 Spartan team seems to be being picked to lose again this week by about 3/4's of the "experts" out there to Iowa

At least Mich St didn't have to bail that guy out of jail this time as he was released today after serving his sentence.
I think Iowa will thump them anyway.

Stop acting like this is a bogus prediction. It's entirely possible.

Tulsa can strike quickly. We have a defense so slow that it's phenomenal. To expect domination is ridiculous (no pun intended), especially without Theo Riddick or Kyle Rudolph and with Dayne Crist seemingly unable to make a read or throw an accurate pass.

I agree and sense that something is wrong and cant put my finger on it. The way everyone perceives Notre Dame these days, the way Notre Dame perceives themselves. No idenity, no lust for excellance, nothing but a fantasy land type perception of a football team. I look for Tulsa to win easy but more important is my feeling that nobody really cares, not Notre Dame and not the nation. The tragedies that have hit this program are really beyond the norm. I dont listen to or pay attention to espn but when I watch these guys play they look worn out, with nothing more to give. Defeat will do that to you .They are still college guys and need someone who can flip the switch. We have had leaders in the past that did that no matter what the record was. The players seem to saying this may not be able to get done by their body language. Navy really gutted this program, then add in a tragic death of a college mate and you have a bewildered team. Once upon a time this was a proud football program, I dont think the echos will be heard for quite some time.

If everyone thinks ND is getting upset, why would it be an upset?

...ya know, as I read the stuff out there I was thinking the same thing...I guess Vegas will decide, and apparently they don't read ESPN and SI....:)

Who on this earth would say Tulsa beating Notre Dame is an upset. Someone needs to take a breathilizer test. I have a bigger question why is everyone so afraid of Notre Dame. Meaning why do they always pound on Notre Dame-answer the dont want that sleeping giant to wake up because they remember when Notre Dame was quality.

First and foremost, ND is favored because they are more talented. It is ridiculous that we lost to Navy the way we did. I can hardly believe that this team is in the state of disarray that it is in.

We all thought a coaching change would change our fortune, and now that it hasn't we have a tendency to place blame. I am not sure why we are underperforming to the point that we are. I can't put my finger on why we go out on Saturday each week with less emotion than our opponent. We need to bring the fire, and play with intensity for 4 quarters no matter who gets hurt, or burned for a touchdown, or fumbles on the 1. I was at the Michigan game and when we ran Reese out, and he threw that pick, the D came out like "Ah man we gotta play, ****, let em' score we are screwed anyway". Seriously we have no emotion, none, that is our problem.

I am by no means calling for Brian Kellys head. I want to see him bring the fire. I know he is implementing a new system. I can be patient. No problem. The only thing I can say is how on earth did we allow Navy to run all over us with no adjustment. I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt the coach that will win us NC's would call up to the box and say, "9 in the box every play, 1 on 1 on the outside, if they can beat us in the air so be it but we will stop this run." I am not saying BK can't or wont, I am saying he didn't and should in the future. He has to get a hold of all aspects with complete control or we will never be the team that we have the talent to be.

Its not like Tulsa is all that bad. I think our defense will have its hands full again. We will have to score 40+ to win.

Because they are favored by 8.

That doesn't really have much to do with what they think the outcome will be...just on how many bets they think will come in on each side.

I grow weary of the criticism of ESPN. Some of it is warranted. But, frankly, they have been right about Notre Dame far more than I have in the last 5 years. Do they pick against us because they're trying to make a stir, or to I pick us because I look at the world through green tinted glasses?

Seems like it's the latter.

On the other hand...
Do I hate Mark May? Yes.

Its definitely a possibility and thats the worst part of it. Its all gonna depend on what ND team we see out there.
We CAN crush them but will we? Will the Defense decide to play well? Will Crist be confident and go out there and play to his ability?
Or will they just let Navy beat em again?
