And the most surprising of all even though it's a down year, Boise State 32 Bob Davie's New Mexico Lobos 29 in the 4th.

Still way too early, but since I had two dreams this week about KU beating K-State, I figured I'd post this:

KU up 7-0 with 7:24 left in the 1st.

Crist is 7-8 for 77 yards and a TD

At half IU 27 - MSU 14

IU defense looks really good (never thought I'd say that). They are getting tons of penetration and really disrupting the offensive rhythm. I'm not sure what that says about our D though. Michigan State does not look very good at all.

If this doesn't get the blind loyalist of Golson to come to reality that he's awful then nothing will.

I'm sorry because while I love and support my ND but I don't get the hype, love, etc. etc. for Golson. He has shown nothing. So what if he's athletic and has a strong arm? There are plenty of those guys and they are terrible because there is much more to being a QB than those measurables.

Fans and the coaches will keep making excuses for him saying he's a So. who just now is getting PT but look at this IU QB Coffman he's been thrown in the fire because of there starting QB going down season long injury. In 1 half against the same MSU team that ND faced he has already looked better and has been better stat wise than Golson has been and like Golson he's just now seeing PT and is only a So.. Making it that much more impressive is that he doesn't have the offensive talent that Golson is wasting.

Seriously that talent that Golson has at his disposal he shouldn't be struggling like he has because first of all he has the best TE in the nation to go with a solid to good WR corp and a trio of very good RB's. He hasn't been good because he has horrible vision, timing and the fact that he's always staring down his primary target and this has led to horrible play and has led teams to not to play honest and have loaded the box to stop the run because he can't make the passes consistently enough.

Not an upset, but when did Rutgers D get so good. They have the #1 rush D in the nation and just held UConn to 3 points.

Not sure it's an upset or whatever but I think Notre Dame can beat LSU... They have to be the worst coached, most vanilla, predictable "legit" college football team I can remember... I think their talent overall hides the rest, but yeah... They are far too one deminsional

IU didn't score again for the entire game, and lost in typical no-D IU fashion. Thats not the point though. I kinda agree with you about Golson not showing much, but I feel that the hype surrounding Golson is due to his potential to become a dynamic football player. This, combined with the fact that our lack of a stable quarterback seems to be the main glaring weakness on this team and you get a hyper-enthused fan base foaming at the mouth because Golson is the only person with potential that we have seen play so far.

With that said my verdict is still out on who I truly think will be the future of ND QB's.

I think we can all confidently say that we know exactly what we have with Rees and Hendricks and I don't think that is going to change anytime soon.

Golson is an unknown at this point because he hasn't shown the confidence nor the consistency to make me think that he can hold down the starting job in the face of future QB competition. This week will hopefully tell us more about what we will see from him when facing an inferior defense such as Miami's.

Last, but not least we have the X-factors. You start with Gunner who was an all-american in high school and has the prototypical body that you want in a QB, he also has all of the physical tools and mental tools that you look for in an elite level QB. The only problem right now is that we have no idea how he is doing and what he will look like come spring ball.

You also have Zaire coming in next year who look like a left handed Golson. Chances are likely that he won't see the field next year, but you never know with some recruits. He might come in with confidence and poise and outplay everyone if none of the other competitors steps up. Unlikely, but that's the only way I see him entering this discussion.

Starting to think our schedule isn't as tough as it looked.

Somewhat. A lot of teams look very beatable right now. That's the nature of college football. There are not many elite teams and not that many bad teams. There is a lot of parity to go around this year.

I would feel confident in our Irish playing anyone in the country right now not named Bama, Oregon, or Georgia.

Not an upset, but when did Rutgers D get so good. They have the #1 rush D in the nation and just held UConn to 3 points.

They given up few rushing yds but is RU's Rush D so good or are their opponent's Rush O just so terrible?

Opponents to Date:

Tulane 0-4, #120 Rush O, against #26 Sagarin schedule
Div 1aa Howard 3-1, #214 schedule
USF 2-3, #83 Rush O, #28
ARK 2-4, #111 Rush O, #10
CON 3-3 #109 Rush O, #119

So far RU's faced one team with a winning record, Div 1AA Howard. The 4 1A Teams are 7-14 and have an average Rush O Rank of 106.

Their remaining schedule:

Syracuse 2-3, #81 Rush O, #31 Sagarin schedule
Temple 1-2, #71, #66
Kent St 4-1, #55 against an extremely soft schedule, #123
Army 1-4, #2 and BC Killers, #89
CIN 3-0, #31 #122
PIT 2-3, #43, #78
UL 5-0, #58, #107

Arizona up by 14 over the Cardinal with 7:30 left.

Rich Rod's offense is clicking like crazy.

EDIT: Up 7 now. 6:30 left.

ISU up on #15 TCU 30-20. Arizona up on #18 Stanford 48-41. GT was giving Clemson a game but it looks like they're pulling away now.
