This ND staff does not screw around about recruiting....giving the recruits alot to think about- either get on the bus or the bus is leaving without you. LOVE IT!

Rumblings Perkins might be getting an offer soon. He has a meeting with BK tonight apparently.

Yes. I'll take the local 4-star RB in a heart beat.

Indeed... especially considering his flexibility to play defense and the fact that we have no power runners on our roster after Jonas graduates.

I thought Roberson was a power runner. Obviously, he's badly injured right now...

Put me on record now tabbing Prosise as the the Ben Councell of 2012. I bet he comes in as a 4-star.
I agree I think Prosise will be a steal and a great addition to the team.

But I don't know if he will become a 4* ala Ben Councell. Councell only received his 4*, because of his performance in the Carolina Shriners game. Most likely Prosise won't be playing in the UA or AAA game, he won't have a big showcase to show his skills.

Let's say we magically land any combination of Wright/Smith/Shumate and we keep the guys we currently have (I personally think one will defect) but let's assume.

Does Darby then possibly move to WR or RB? Recent rumbling suggest the staff wants 3 RBs but what if Darby could be that slasher type third option. I don't know why but I just invision him running reverses and catching screen passes for long TDs.

I realize that he is a highly rated CB but he plays offensive too right?

Darby wants to play CB. Is it a possible? sure, but the staff likes to play 3 corners. They have a need there too

Whitehead has academic questions. The staff has cooled on him much like they have Yuri Wright because of qualification issues.

The staff never cooled on Wright. Turns out it was a mis-communication issue. Wright is very much a high priority.

Copied from another thread, seemed appropriate after we just landed our 5th OL in the 2011 class.

The staff has put us in a great position with almost all the elite OL recruits in 2012 (hence no offer to Destefano who is a good player) to land two of: Banner, Garnett, Peat, Murphy, and Theus.

Rivals Rankings for these players:
(OL) #Overall

(2) #7 J Theus
(3) #15 A Peat
(5) #22 J Garnett
(6) #28 K Murphy
(7) #31 Z Banner

Outside of these there is also high interest in: Paul Thurston, Kyle Dodson, Evan Goodman, and Ronnie Stanley to get us to 4 OL.

4 recruits in this class would leave strong, young depth for the 2012 season:
Probable 5th Years: Cave, Golic Jr
Seniors: Z Martin, Watt
Juniors: Lombard, Nichols
Sophomores: Hegarty, Prestwood, N Martin, Hanratty, Carrico
Freshman: Decker, Harrell, ???, ???

We as usual with Kelly, have some flexibility here too. That flexibility resides in Heggie, Hounshell, and whether or not Golic will actually come back. [if other centers develop quickly (and two need to, since Cave and Golic are in the same eligibility situation, i.e. gone at the same time), then Golic might be on the edge if scholarship numbers get really tight and a really big fish comes at the last moment]. If Heggie counts as a third for Lombard's year, and Hounshell counts as a sixth for Hegarty's year, then the Staff can concentrate on the typical four O-Linemen per year [sixteen per roster], which is about correct.

p.s. just to be clear: I agree that normally no one would deny a fifth year to a good back-up like Golic. But IF we have an option of a good developing center [ex. a Nick Martin or whomever], and [to make the point] a Marshall and a DGB both want to come at the eleventh hour and we've saved only one scholarship, then ....

Shouldn't Zac Brooks be on the list under WR? With ND in his top four and a visit scheduled, it seems he'd be listed as high probability.

IF Brooks happens to commit, does that leave Darboh out in the cold? (Just speculating for fun here)

Should get Jarrod on this list.

Also, I'm really starting to get the vibe that we don't get any Don Bosco kids nor Geno Smith. Really wish we had offered Carroo just to get the ball rolling with the other guys. Could've been a sick haul.

Mangus should be on this list as well. It is down to ND or Clemson, and he just visited on his own dime.

As for the DB kids, I am hearing there is a very good chance all of them end up at Rutgers. May not happen, but it is certainly being talked about right now.

I would give you reps for this statement, but it doesn't allow me to "Have to spread the love around"
