When I posted, I had heard that we were definitely getting it, if we hadn't already. Still under construction / hasn't occurred yet, so me culpa for leading anyone to believe it was in already.

But it will be in for next year's season.

Proof... we want proof.

If you are basing this off of "what you heard", but haven't seen anything from a legitimate source, then don't get your hopes up.

I'd call my source very legitimate, but no I don't have an article to point to or something along those lines.

Are you willing to bet all of your vbucks that when we play our first home game, it will be on field turf?

If we are getting turf I would say that it makes more sense to put it in after the B/G game. If they were putting it in now that would be hard to get the grass to take hold before the spring game.

I do hope you are correct. I can't wait for the meltdown on ndnation if this proves to be true.

Part of me believes it and part of me is saying "Who puts in turf, in Indiana, in February?"

I have heard of a blend of artificial with real grass but field turf is fully synthetic so which is it that notre dame wants

good thing he's a new poster...better hope he doesn't spill out a couple manifestos, 10,0000 posts, and a couple good bets...

off topic, but how the hell do you guys have so many vbucks lol.. I've seen people with 80k+.. I've never really got into anything beyond posting.. can someone PM me and explain to me what these vbucks are and how you get them..

on topic, I think that grass TerryTate pointed out would be nice.. whatever enhances our speed, I'm all for it

Yea, sorry I mean the mixture to which you're referring to. That's why I would question putting the stuff in now, while waiting until after the spring game would b better when it's growing season

this is what the Pittsburgh Steelers use at Heinz Field. it's ok and it should hold up better at Notre Dame because unlike Heinz Field, ND doesn't have a whole bunch of other teams playing on the same field. obviously the Steelers and Pitt play at Heinz Field, but they also use it for high school playoff games and concerts. anything should be an improvement over what Notre Dame plays on now.

Eh, ND should look for something other than that stuff TT just linked. Wembley Stadium has it and that pitch is terrible. One of the worst soccer fields in the world. :whoknows: Not impressed, keep looking ND.

They use it at the Link. It should hold up fine because there aren't two teams playing on it.

Thanks for clearing it up , but how will a mixture help with the speed guys. It sounds like the blend is just to keep the grass from looking bad from use.

Whatever it is, maybe its the best-kept secret ever and is going to be a Blue and Gold Game surprise for everyone. Could you imagine? Not only do we get to see Golson, Kiel and Hendrix running the offense in a competition setting, but all members of NDNation will be outed via their exploding heads. It would be the best weekend ever.

If this is anything other than 100% field turf I will be disappointed. I have seen this turf in many different venues and the stuff flat out blows. It does the same exact thing that our turf does now and it looks like $hit if you ask me.

The new field MUST MUST MUST MUST be the 100% synthetic material otherwise it will just be another lousy field that we have been used too.

Seems to me like every other year we get a new field or new grass or foundation etc etc, this is PHUKING NOTRE DAME!!!!! Why can't we get it right?

Install the 100% synthetic and there goes throwing ANY money away on maintenance, all you have to do every other year is add rubber pellets and thats cheap! It should not be this hard for a supposedly brilliant university to figure out.

Wouldn't ND stadium have to have a concrete field foundation before Fieldturf is installed?

Haha what a place to start. Sounds perfect. I also agree that they should do the 100% deal. Just get it done and do it right. Still think they would have said something.

If you guys in fact do get FieldTurf, you should put the big gold logo on your lacrosse field on the 50yd line of the football field.

That thing looks sharp with the blue border.

In all fairness, I think the scUM stadium is beautiful. The jumbotrons are gorgeous and the press boxes go nicely with the brick exterior. The only thing that ruins their atmosphere are the 80% of Michigan fans that think their team is all-powerful and act rudely and violently toward their opponent's fans. As far as renovations to ND's stadium, I'm definitely down with turf and classy jumbotrons, but I don't want a logo on the field. That would definitely detract from the feel of the stadium in a way that a jumbotron and turf would not.
