By no means is this definite but I walked by the stadium today and the grass appeared unnaturally green for this time of year. It was really bright when the rest of grass on campus is still growing. Perhaps they treated it with something but to me it looked artificial

The gates are always locked, so I wouldn't expect a close-up pic, but if somebody could take a pic from the gates, that would be cool.

I don't know if comparing a field that is cared for by professionals to the plain old grass around campus is a good basis for comparison. The winter was uncharacteristic this year and it is much nicer than normal for this time of year. It wouldn't take long for them to have it green and full.

It's most likely going to be a different species of real grass or the grass/turf combo. Both of which I could care less for. If we are to be getting field turf then get field turf and not something that is going to look like a cow pasture during and after a game.

As much as we all want Tirf i would be very surprised if it was installed this year. Next will probably be a better guess.

Not only do I think ND would not hide installing turf, they would probably send out a press release about it. Its something to brag about, not hide in shame. Its not an issue like the jerseys/helmets. The players aren't going to be pumped for playing on the new turf or something...

Didn't see this mentioned int he last few pages and didn't have time to read the whole thread, but Sampson talked about this on a podcast a few weeks back. They mentioned some type of large machinery that might be used to install a new drainage system being parked there. They were answering a question that was sent in and really sounded like they knew something but weren't allowed to "OFFICIALLY" let anything out of the bag.

They also went on to say that the installation of the turf was pretty much all approved and that it would be a synthetic blend (I think that's what they called it). Anyway it would be the same thing they installed in Green Bay, which is woven together with real grass with synthetic fibers to hold it together. The bottom line was that they said you would be able to stand on it and look down, or even pull up some blades and not be able to tell it wasn't real grass.
