At what point did I refer to a grand standing attempted beat down of McCain? Not sure where that came from.
You didn't, I mentioned it for two reasosn...to make sure we are talking about the same meeting, and secondly to demonstrate the condecension...how productive was that meeting really going to be? "We're not campaigning anymore John" to McCain's concerns about HOW the document got created...BO lost me right there.

Anyway, yes Paul Ryan was in the room, it was just after the election, perhaps Jan 2009?
Yea, I know, just wanted to hear you say you heard Paul Ryan...it went like this...
YouTube - Paul Ryan: Hiding Spending Doesn't Reduce Spending
Obama systematically answered questions on a wide range of policies. He didn't stumble, he didn't use a teleprompter, he didn't have canned questions fed to him, he simply showed his grasp of the issues (and there was no camera angle that showed him reading notes off the palm of his hand).
Not sure how to even respond...other than to say we see it differently...factually, you are correct, I saw no aids or devices helping him unless he had an ear bud in...that was all him...but I left with a different impression.
Chokes on the big formal stuff? Are you kidding? There were how many people that thought the only reson he got elected was as a result of his skills as an orator? )
count me among them...but we are talking about two different things...he has a very nice delivery when he is in his element...among supporters talking high level visionary things. Preaching if you will. He is also said to be very good in intimate settings...cool.
However, if he has to do anything contentious/controversial, detailed, formal, or short notice...he's not so great. Through repetition and preparation, he does better, which is why he did ok campaigning/debating on that front...now he is the man, and has no time to prepare, comparitively speaking, and the message isn't reptitive or just lofty visionary things...its contentious details, or controversial decisions...he stumbles alot...overuses the teleprompter...or needs more practice at it...Just my view...
Railroading HC?? if you look at the numbers, it actually has positive approval ratings.)
What Numbers...everything I see is 50/50 at best...and lets be sure those numbers reflect an evaluation of Obama Care...not just the need for reform...we all know that trick to co-opt folks who see issues generally with health care into Obama Care supporteers. Anyway, I'll believe the numbers closer to election time...but we both know you are wishing for 50/50...and that is not good enough to allow Obama Care to stand.
Do you believe that our current healthcare system works well? Incentive to care givers to lengthen stays in hospitals? Something needs to be done. I love the R's response to the healthcare debate bringing out an empty book, waving it around saying it was their plan, but they wouldn't actually show it to anyone (Big Pharma in pocket anyone?)
Its always worked well for me. But that doesn't mean its above reproach either. I think folks like me are very carefull how the address this...as soon as we say we agree there is a propblem, we are co-opted into "a supporter" of Obama's healthcare reforms...
I'll agree the premise of waving something around as a solution w/o detailed review from contrarians is no solution at all...what would you call Obama care then? Lets pass it then we can see whats in it....seriously man...that act caused alot of bad will for the Dems.
Voters voted because the economy has not produced enough jobs to their liking and spending is too high. I can see that, it had nothing to do with a railroading HC.
...the economy would have caused some problems, but only two years in to a president's term...tough call...the galvanizing "those bastards" issue was HC...or lets just say it was just as big...I agree the economy tends to be the big ticket item but Obama Care was like poking a hornet's nest. Come 4 years in the economy will be the defining issue...too far removed to blame the last guy...
Clearly you and I see our President through very different lenses, I'm cool with that.
Likewise
By the way, I attended graduation at West Point last May, he was the speaker. He was awesome by any measure. My nephew, the grad and many of his classmates were awestruck by his message, along with it's delivery.
I would expect that...flowery, high level stuff, thats his sweet spot, the guy is a master...can't argue that...
Will do...Although I disagree with you...yours was a reasonable post. Sorry for the long response.
